I've been seeing some posts saying that Mahoraga only got stronger at the end of Modulo. I disagree.

If we assume that Mahoraga's adaptation is what evolves, why do we begin with Mahoraga adapting to Dabura's existence? There was also something Mahoraga did before that. It started adapting to Dabura's physical strength. Mahoraga has never done that before.

Mahoraga's adaptations must always proc when the wheel spins. When Gojo started pummeling Sukuna, it only adapts to Limitless, not the entirety of Gojo's kit or his physical strength. Gojo can still harm Mahoraga just fine with his strength. When Mahoraga adapted to blue and red, Gojo is still able to punch it out with the wheel never spinning. That means throughout the duration of the Gojo vs Sukuna fight, it was less advanced than the mid-point of its fight with Dabura. The volume statement doesn't specify when Mahoraga surpassed previous incarnations, but I think this is a pretty clear distinction.
