I just saw an IG reel slamming too much sports for kiddos

Im super curious bc when I was 9, I was in ballet 4x a week. The entire week revolved around caring for my nutrition and pointe shoes. Rehearsal pre show was 5-6 days a week.

The social media commentary is we have our kids in too much stuff

If we travel 3x a season in state (2.5 hour drives) is that too much?

Are 3-4 practices and 1 game too much?

Kiddo is 9.

I don’t want anyone burning out (including us).

He is begging to do it .. and it raises the oppty to talk about mental health and burn out and not force him

He’s very good — but that could fade and I’m not delusional thinking it will go anywhere

I just want him to have passion, have fun, and if he wants to compete go for it - hell, be great. But also be a kid.

Would appreciate thoughts or experienced advice
