Wah/Volume problem

Okay, I can't be the only one having this problem, but it's a little bit difficult to describe, so bear with me. I'm using a Floor LT. Now, suppose I have a volume pedal assigned to Expression Pedal 2 and a wah assigned to Expression Pedal 1. I'm playing a song and I'm adjusting the volume, and I decide that the volume sounds best at around 70, so that's where I park it. Now I want to turn the wah on, but in order to switch the expression pedal over from 2 to 1, I have to push it all the way down to engage the button, and that turns the volume up to 100. And now the pedal is controlling the wah, so I can't bring the volume back down again.

I could get around this by setting up another snapshot in which expression pedal 2 switches from controlling the volume to controlling the wah, but there's a problem with that too. Suppose, again, I decide, while I'm playing, that I want the volume to be set to 70, then I switch snapshots to where the pedal is controlling the wah. The volume isn't going to stay at 70. It's going to raise or drop down to whatever the default volume on the next snapshot is. That's correct, right?

So what I'm asking is, is there any way for me to set the volume and then switch over to the WAH while leaving the volume where it is, whether I've set it to 30 or 70 or 100?

Pure DNase?

Looking around, I find that it's almost impossible, in fact it's entirely impossible, to buy pure DNase. Why is that? Lots of things are touted as being DNase-free, but the actual stuff itself doesn't show up anywhere. Is that because it’s unusually toxic, unstable, or expensive? Some other reason? I don't get it. It seems like it would be a useful thing to have in one's laundry arsenal.

A new polyquat villain

Let's all be adult about this, shall we? One obvious but overlooked cause of these stains is sexual lubricants. Which is not surprising, since the stuff is used to make things slippery. That'll do in your sheets, of course, and any t-shirts or underwear you might leave on. If you use the stuff, check the label or look up the ingredients online: not all lubes have them: Astroglide does, for example, but the gel form doesn't.

In my experience, a lot of materials, especially natural materials, are very much the same regardless of where you get them. But Orris absolute isn't one of them. The difference between a great batch and a mediocre one is really striking. Given that the stuff is so expensive, I'm loathe to send out for multiple versions and compare them, so I'm wondering if anybody has a source that they particularly appreciate. The Fraterworks version was disappointing. I've tried Eden Botanicals, Liberty Naturals, and the alas-now-closed White Lotus, but didn't take notes on which one was best.

Do any of you have a source that you swear by?

EDIT: I'll use the butter if I have to: it seems to be easier to source.

I'm not denying anyone's claim that polyquats are responsible for the kinds of stains we associate with them, but I am curious. It seems to me that millions upon millions of people use things with polyquats in them every day: shampoos and conditioners, hand soap, sunblock, and on and on. I don't know what percentage of those contain polyquats, but they are usually designated the culprits, so presumably it's not insignificant. And it stands to reason that a lot of those things are going to get on a lot of clothes.

And yet the spots on laundry are relatively rare. You'd think 3/4 of the T-shirts in America would be ruined by this stuff almost immediately, especially since most people are more careless about clothes washing than those of us who want this sub. You might also think that the clothes manufacturers would raise a stink about it, because -- while I'm sure they're not averse to selling more clothes as the stained ones get discarded -- they must get a fair number of complaints from people whose garments were ruined in the first week or month.

So there must be, I would think, another factor at play here. At the very least, anyone have any idea what it is?
