One of my best friends, whom I live with, is a chronic gamer. He has some adhd/depression which influence his addictive habits, but the gaming is getting out of hand. Keep in mind we’re in our early 20’s. He’s good looking, funny, and has lots of great qualities, but has no urge to find a job or any real hobbies. I don’t want to seem like an asshole or superior, but I’m really worried about how long this will continue for, and how much of his life will go to waste. One of my friends suggested we take a piece of his PC out of the system so it no longer runs, but I thought that was a bit extreme. He has worked -4 months out of the last 1.5 years, and his parents pay for rent/groceries. Does anyone have any input for what I should do if anything? I love him as a friend and would never want to do anything to hurt our relationship but I’m not sure I can tolerate it for much longer. His addiction to these games is truly insane and he will sometimes spend days playing nonstop without sleep.
