Tips for Tempest Layer Bananza

I am not very good at these events, but | got my statues and about 1.5 million emeralds after several tries. Since I like people to explain it to me like I’m five, I will do the same with my tips that helped me get there even though I move slow and keep forgetting the move sets. If I can do it, so can you.

Soggy cravat, defensive britches, 60% bonus Bananzas (do NOT use the 80% elephant bananza since you won't be using him much.

Early rounds: 1-3. Grab some emeralds right out of the gate but don't waste time on it. Follow the path to the left and get the fossil on the side of the cliff (fossil map). Then head into the elder hall. You will see 2 little mounds with emerald sparks. Jump up and punch down on each (breaks with 1 hit this way, otherwise tough terrain and you will be there forever).slap down to collect the emeralds. This will give you sufficient for round 1 with rerolls. Go to the right of the elder stage... fossil under some debris. Reroll it and get rock ensemble beat X3. Get the banana (elephant bananza) go back around...2 fossils on some lava (remember, lava harmless with doggy cravat). Smash or suck-one has a bonus warp barrel. Rare fossil worth grabbing up on the wall to the left of the stage. Probably worth going back towards the entrance and take the small door on the right. Fossil just to the right then go forward a bit (past the tornado) pound thru the dirt, and suck up the 2 fossils (and several emeralds underneath).

Warp to the Trunk Dunk Hot Springs (902) and jump in the water (first void goal), then smash rare fossil under the bridge to your right. Warp to Sauna Gateway (902) for the next Void Goal. Before you beat the buzzoids, try to suck up a few different materials (lace, stone, grass) then take out the buzzoids. Having different materials in your trunk along with all of the rock ensembles that you picked up makes the void goals worthwhile...you should get more then enough emeralds to make your quotas and pay for rerolls. Get RE and Batteroid Demolishers whenever possible.

Check your chips and buy expanded trunk space as soon as you get 10 chips. Extra bonanza time, health, better storage worthwhile after that (better flutter and glide also helpful late in your run). Go to the next void goal at Stormy Station. Lots of different materials here.

I always struggles figuring out which materials I had and which I didnt (and how many I had). I was always guessing. I ended up giving up on this. Each time I got a RE from a fossil or goal, it tells you how many you have (xxx% x 6 would mean you have 6 different types.

If you have 6, you are golden. I made it with 5. Suck up various things at Story station. Once you hit 5, never touch elephant again (easy to suck up 10 rock or chuck one and then you are scrambling again). Get the the roof of the globe to get ostrich. Finish the void goal and head back to Summit Gateway (900). Most important thing here is to run along the left mountain tops until you can drop down to the ledge for the Kong Bananza before the end of round 3 (most used bananza form oddly). If you have time, there are a few fossils nearby.

Do NOT take out any of the batteroids along the way... much more valuable later on.

If you got this done round 1-3, you are set. Chase to void goals. Pick up any fossils nearby. Your multiplier for any void (or random) enemies should be climbing fast enough that you should not have to worry about quotas and can reroll within reason. Ostrich comes in handy to reach some void goals. Just keep stacking RE and BD (BD is rarer so take that if you have a choice).

By round 8, you should be hitting void goals with Batteroids nearby. Take them out (first 2 will be near water...it they land in the water or get knocked off a clift, you get no emeralds). Hopetully you will see a multiplier in the 6000x + range. Now head back to Summit Gateway. Take out the 3 Batteroids in the colosseum then go down the left mountain ridge for 2 more. Go back to the start and down the tunnel towards the lava room. 2 more batteroids there. 2 more in the Lava Gateway area (901) towards the top (hard to reach...ostrich helps). That should get you comfortably above 1 million (likely 1.5-2 million).

Is it as snazzy as the max in 6 rounds? No. But tairly easy to achieve for those of us that now play the gave once a month and have completely forgotten the move set. Always helpful to just go to the main game level (no timer) to do a walk through so you aren't frantically trying to find something and getting lost.

Hope this helps.

Am I the only one that only collects omnibuses solely out of nostalgia?

I am a Bronze Age kid and (mostly) only purchased comics in the 80’s. I stopped when I went to college and kind-of forgot about it. I am finding that I currently have a lot of nostalgia for my childhood days and my adult collecting is limited to stuff that brings me back to my younger days. I have read a few very popular modern comics, and I have no interest/enjoyment from those stories. The runs that I enjoyed as a kid, I am revisiting now and having a blast. As a kid, I got into several classic runs only after they became popular, and never completed many of them. So, Omni’s give me a chance to correct read them start to finish (Byrne’s Alpha Flight/FF, Millers DD, Simonson’s Thor etc). Many I can contain in 1-2 volumes. I struggle with the longer ones (GI Joe is still going, but I stopped before issue 30, so I’ll stick to volume 1. X-Men is tougher. I stopped reading a little after issue 200, so I thought I would stop with volume 5 of UXM Omnis, but 6 was announced and…FOMO…so I guess I’ll be doing the entire Claremont run).

Is this a common way to collect? Or do most collectors get everything they can from titles/characters/creators they enjoy, or use Omnis to discover new series they never read before?

How do I get the new Mario/Luigi skins in Emerald Rush?

I’ve completed the base game (not quite 100%), and have played a ton of Emerald Rush. I bought the new disc, but I can’t find the skins or coins or ? boxes. I don’t see anything new in the wardrobe. I only see the tiki statues event when talking to Void. I don’t see the new skins when doing that event or playing regular Emerald Rush.

What super obvious thing am I doing wrong?

Any chance of DC/Marvel releasing a third crossover Omnibus with JLA/Avengers along with the more recent crossovers (Batman/Deadpool, Spidey/Superman)?

JLA/Avengers was the obvious omission from last year’s publications, and licensing seemed to be the main issue. But, with D/C and Marvel doing more collaborations, and an Amalgam reprint coming, it seems like both companies are willing to milk the profits from these stories as much as possible. With the new crossovers, it sure looks like they are getting close to enough material for a third volume. I have little real hope for this happening, but I’m curious what others think…

These events are getting tougher, but these Bananza Statues are sweet…

Snake is amazing, Ostrich is sweet too. Glad I never have to Emerald Rush in those forms again…

Help with the Emerald Rush event please…

I think my biggest issue with these events is that I am now only playing the game during these events. So, I have completely forgotten move sets, item locations, level layouts, etc. I think the last time I played as Snake was the Snake rehearsal (before the DLC was released). So each event, I’m trying to relearn the basics under a time limit. I’ve completed every other event (each one taking longer and getting uglier). I haven’t even claimed the first banandium chip reward this time (I usually unlock the first statue by now, and I completed the first event on my first try). Snake being one of my least used Bananza form doesn’t help at all. Sitting at a 1400 high score right now and this event just is not clicking…🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

So, suggestions for the first few rounds? Get the fossil map right away (next to the start location), snake transformation at the far end from the elder? Then just go beat a few void Kong challenges? Any critical fossils/bananas to get at the start (and mandatory rerolls)? Which critters are best to farm (and where are they?) Clothing for this event (I assume the 80% longer snake Bananza). Which skill to spent banana chips on first? Explain it like I’m 5 please. Thanks!

I just checked my playtime stats…I’m shocked.

So, I knew I played Bananza a bit more then Odyssey, but I thought they were close. Nope…

Bananza: over 200 hours played

Odessey: over 20 hours played

The only games I have played more than Bananza are TOTK (over 300 hours played) and BOTW (over 250 hours played).

The common theme of all 3 of these games is that I fell in love with the worlds and wanted to explore them fully. Odyssey, I was playing through levels.

So, for me, Bananza is one of the greatest games I have ever experienced. Also, at least 100 hours of this was on the DLC (that I’m still pulling out and playing with every event). I haven’t even started a second play through yet.

So, yeah, Bananza is the Switch 2 marquee game. So other game is even close, and worth every penny…
