and also, to anyone who has 100%’d …. what is the most difficult banana to acquire?
So I've been playing a lot NintenDoku recently and found a community driven ranking on the same site. Of course I was curious to see which DK game is the best and to no surprise Bananza takes the tip spot, 64 the second place and country the third.
Is it just recency bias or is Bananza really the best DK game ever?
Edit: someone DMed me and asked about the game I mentioned. You can play it here if you like: https://www.n-puzzle.com/en/nintendoku
Edit 2: forgot to post the source of the ranking: https://www.n-puzzle.com/en/best-nintendo-games
The next event's name, as well as Kiddy Kong's ability being water skipping suggests that the next event will be focused on Skip Groove, which scales based on the longest CONTINUOUS streak of water skips. You will probably need around 20 to get the million (depending on what else is available)
How to do water skips:
You want to be standing just inside the water, not swimming. Roll into the water, and jump each time you hit the surface. The timing on this is very precise, although the input can be buffered slightly (i.e. you can press a few frames too early), except on the first jump, as you will do a roll jump if you jump too early in that case. If you did it right, you will keep rolling. If you do a normal jump, you were too late. If you do no jump at all, you were too early.
If you have a turbo controller (or you can mash really fast) you can use it after the first skip to get an unlimited number of skips.
Now I’m gonna go back up.
DKB now stands for Donkey Kong Baseball
Guess they’re saving the best for last!
Is there something I may be missing?
If I had a dollar for every time a Nintendo game made us collect green gems…
I am not very good at these events, but | got my statues and about 1.5 million emeralds after several tries. Since I like people to explain it to me like I’m five, I will do the same with my tips that helped me get there even though I move slow and keep forgetting the move sets. If I can do it, so can you.
Soggy cravat, defensive britches, 60% bonus Bananzas (do NOT use the 80% elephant bananza since you won't be using him much.
Early rounds: 1-3. Grab some emeralds right out of the gate but don't waste time on it. Follow the path to the left and get the fossil on the side of the cliff (fossil map). Then head into the elder hall. You will see 2 little mounds with emerald sparks. Jump up and punch down on each (breaks with 1 hit this way, otherwise tough terrain and you will be there forever).slap down to collect the emeralds. This will give you sufficient for round 1 with rerolls. Go to the right of the elder stage... fossil under some debris. Reroll it and get rock ensemble beat X3. Get the banana (elephant bananza) go back around...2 fossils on some lava (remember, lava harmless with doggy cravat). Smash or suck-one has a bonus warp barrel. Rare fossil worth grabbing up on the wall to the left of the stage. Probably worth going back towards the entrance and take the small door on the right. Fossil just to the right then go forward a bit (past the tornado) pound thru the dirt, and suck up the 2 fossils (and several emeralds underneath).
Warp to the Trunk Dunk Hot Springs (902) and jump in the water (first void goal), then smash rare fossil under the bridge to your right. Warp to Sauna Gateway (902) for the next Void Goal. Before you beat the buzzoids, try to suck up a few different materials (lace, stone, grass) then take out the buzzoids. Having different materials in your trunk along with all of the rock ensembles that you picked up makes the void goals worthwhile...you should get more then enough emeralds to make your quotas and pay for rerolls. Get RE and Batteroid Demolishers whenever possible.
Check your chips and buy expanded trunk space as soon as you get 10 chips. Extra bonanza time, health, better storage worthwhile after that (better flutter and glide also helpful late in your run). Go to the next void goal at Stormy Station. Lots of different materials here.
I always struggles figuring out which materials I had and which I didnt (and how many I had). I was always guessing. I ended up giving up on this. Each time I got a RE from a fossil or goal, it tells you how many you have (xxx% x 6 would mean you have 6 different types.
If you have 6, you are golden. I made it with 5. Suck up various things at Story station. Once you hit 5, never touch elephant again (easy to suck up 10 rock or chuck one and then you are scrambling again). Get the the roof of the globe to get ostrich. Finish the void goal and head back to Summit Gateway (900). Most important thing here is to run along the left mountain tops until you can drop down to the ledge for the Kong Bananza before the end of round 3 (most used bananza form oddly). If you have time, there are a few fossils nearby.
Do NOT take out any of the batteroids along the way... much more valuable later on.
If you got this done round 1-3, you are set. Chase to void goals. Pick up any fossils nearby. Your multiplier for any void (or random) enemies should be climbing fast enough that you should not have to worry about quotas and can reroll within reason. Ostrich comes in handy to reach some void goals. Just keep stacking RE and BD (BD is rarer so take that if you have a choice).
By round 8, you should be hitting void goals with Batteroids nearby. Take them out (first 2 will be near water...it they land in the water or get knocked off a clift, you get no emeralds). Hopetully you will see a multiplier in the 6000x + range. Now head back to Summit Gateway. Take out the 3 Batteroids in the colosseum then go down the left mountain ridge for 2 more. Go back to the start and down the tunnel towards the lava room. 2 more batteroids there. 2 more in the Lava Gateway area (901) towards the top (hard to reach...ostrich helps). That should get you comfortably above 1 million (likely 1.5-2 million).
Is it as snazzy as the max in 6 rounds? No. But tairly easy to achieve for those of us that now play the gave once a month and have completely forgotten the move set. Always helpful to just go to the main game level (no timer) to do a walk through so you aren't frantically trying to find something and getting lost.
Hope this helps.
They got every track, some extras that aren’t even discs in game (little ones), and even EMERALD RUSH!!!
Strategy: spam Rock-Ensemble Beat, Batteroid Demolisher (everything else is weak). Try to get at least 6 different chunk types into the trunk. The available terrain types on this layer are Dirt, Stone, Obsidian (cooled off lava), Water, Mud, Fractonium (use the Growtone), Liftoff Ore and Emerald (hard). Note that you may get different-looking chunks of stone but they all count as the same type. Get Trunk Room but not Quick Storage.
So during the first wave, we were able to buy the new music disc from Squawk. Does anybody know if there are any new rewards for this new collab wave? (Besides the Emerald Rush statues)
Is there any chance they’ll come up again? I’ve apparently reached the limit of buying statues on DK island which I didn’t even know what possible!
ETA: Does anyone else get sick of a level after the event is over. I’m still not over Radiance and Canyon Layers from the last two events lol
Hey guys I’ve seen a bunch of posts about how to get both statues but I’m still having trouble. Do you have to wear all voidco outfits? I’ve been using the soggy cravat and pauline feast outfit that helps recover health (the batteroids kick my ass). The videos show that pauline has her wearing voidco and DK wearing the voidco pants. Does that make a big difference in terms of rewards?
