Clontarf Pubs and Cafes

I'm trying to get a good sense of what pubs and cafes and general places to socialise are in Clontarf.

Based on limited visits so far;

Pubs;

Pebble beach seems to be decent and covers everyone in the neighbourhood.

Connollys / The Sheds seems to be a great ould lads pub.

Cafes;

Pog does a decent range of lunch options.

Where else is worth checking out? Thanks.

Flavours of Fingal: Parking

The parking is €40 per car tomorrow and we have to drive as we have a baby and everything that needs to come with that.

Is there anywhere to park nearby that doesn't have this charge?

Thanks.

What is the target for house prices and how do we get there?

We all know the price of housing is causing issues for the vast majority of the country.

The government talks on terms of X number units are needed per year to meet demand.

What I'm really interested to know is, for a decent standard of home with a B BER or better what would be an acceptable price per square meter for:

(A) your standard 3 bed semi detached house in a generic housing estate

(B) A standard 2 bed apartment

I'm not including social house, affordable housing or any other scheme... just a straight cost to the average person.

Let's say there is a smallish 3 bed semi at 90sq (2 doubles and a single boxroom, 1 bathroom)... what is an acceptable price for various locations?

Is there anywhere in Dublin that will just add a few layers of anti reflective coating to the inside of a watch crystal?

I have a cheap enough watch made by rotary that I never wear because the sapphire crystal has no anti reflective layers so it looks like I'm wearing a flashlight on my wrist. I do like it so trying to make it wearable.

Is there anywhere in Dublin that will just add a few layers of anti reflective coating to the inside of a watch crystal?

Thanks.

EIIS Exit Strategy

For anyone that invested in the EIIS scheme how did you exit the investment?

If you could give some background on the business that would be great.

Any lessons to share?

how do i download spotify podcast episode as mp3 to use on devices without internet or spotify app?

I'm trying to download the following podcast episode as an mp3 to use on various offline devices without spotify so my kid will sleep as they respond better to this particular one.

I don't want to pay for Spotify at this time and the usual websites seem to be unable to download this for some reason.

The driving range ball collection cart - is it a target?

When you are at the driving range and the guy driving the cart that collects the balls comes out, in a fully enclosed protective cage, do you do your best to avoid hitting it or do you now have a target to aim for?

Are we paying more for almost everything compared to other EU countries?

The article on the RTE website today saying we are paying more for electricity than any other EU county has me wondering what else are we paying more for, and also importantly why are we paying more for it?

I'm looking for examples of the exact same product so we are comparing like with like.

If you have an idea of the cost in Ireland versus other EU countries that would be great.

Can we buy the product from the other country or is there some roadblock in place to prevent us from doing this?

Social Housing Problems

On a regular basis I see threads on here highlighting increased antisocial behaviour by social housing tenants.

It's topical on the news at the moment with lovely new built apartments on the Malahide Road in Dublin where things seem to have gotten to a very bad state.

It seems socially unacceptable to say that there seems to be a huge correlation between anti social behaviour and the number of social housing units in an area or estate or apartment block.

Of course we can't "tar" every individual with the same brush.... but we can talk in general terms, no?

An area of only social housing can lead to slums so mixed living is the way we do things... but that is no comfort to people who bought an apartments and realise that a large percentage of their neighbours are social housed and and a handful are very bad neighbours and the council won't do much about it so their lives can be disrupted for years while trying to sort out this mess.

If I found out that the council bought half the houses in my estate and there were going to be social houses I would put my house up for sale that day.

For people buying apartments or houses how can they find out the number of social houses within their area or apartment block in advance of buying so they can make an informed choice about buying?

Driver shaft reduction

Has anyone here had their driver shaft shortened after having used it for a while?

What was the starting and ending length?

How did you decide on what length would suit you? What is your height and wrist to floor measurements if relevant?

What differences did you notice after cutting it?

Best waterproof cart bag

Looking for recommendations for the best cart bag.

At the moment I'm between two;

  1. Ogio by Callaway All Elements Silencer Cart Bag Black

  2. Motocaddy Dry Series Cart Bag Black - Red

I'm wondering if anyone who has the Ogio has any negative experience with using the silencer system?
