Mono tub growing

I’ve got a monotub going, 1:1 spawn to substrate ratio, S2B on 5/4. I’ve experimented with leaving the lid off, displaced, upside down, and shut but not latched. Now I’ve got a little piece of cardboard wedged in a corner for FAE because it was seemingly drying out pretty quickly. My question is, where do I go from this point? Do I leave the lid on and open it to fan a couple times per day and mist when needed, or should I let it sit passively and mist when needed?

My last batch, even with no visible contamination, smelled honestly horrible but I sent it to S2B and so far 24H in it appears to be growing. It also smells more fine now, do you guys think that could be okay?

This bag has this gunk at the bottom, which I have attributed to just be sludge from the grain and leftover gypsum because I think I’ve been adding too much. Is this wet rot, and is this responsible for the sharp smell I get when opening the bags? Until I open them, it smells fine through the micropore tape. Maybe a tiny bit of the scent gets through.

I consistently have trouble with rye grain on the face of the bag colonizing? Should I just keep waiting, break and shake, or send it to S2B?

Hey all, I’m wondering if you guys have any resources for finding EE internships. I’m about done with my 2nd year of college, any I have yet to land an internship. For just over a month I worked on testing industrial transformers, circuit breakers, etc. but it was more of a trade and I had to wake up at 3am and juggle that with school. I’ve had enough blue collar work during high school so I’d rather not. Now I’m volunteering in a brain organoid lab where I build systems to automate related processes like keeping the organoids alive. There has been talk of getting paid over the summer, but even then, it’s $23/hour capped at 20 hours per week, so ideally Id have a full time internship too. My question is, where do you guys even find these? I know for CS there are a couple Git repos with a huge list but I can’t find anything relevant for EE. I live in Santa Cruz, CA. Perhaps one problem is I don’t know exactly what I want to do. I love building with my hands, working on projects that mesh electrical and mechanical engineering, etc. I don’t love just pure electrical work, it’s not quite hands on or creative enough for me.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
