Inspection just states microbial growth in basement. Not tested for mold. What am I looking at in this photo and how concerned should we be?

I had read so many great things about sherwin williams alabaster being a warm and creamy white. We just used it for our living room and I think it looks cold and sterile. Any advice to make the space warmer?
