Hellcat 3.8” Barrel w/comp experience?

Hellcat 3.8” Barrel w/comp experience?

My main carry is a 2021 Hellcat with a Holosun 407K optic. It’s been super reliable, racking up 6000 rounds at the range with zero malfunctions. It ain’t a show piece, it’s a daily carry that I’ve managed to get pretty accurate/comfortable with, especially with the 15 rd mag making a full grip.

I’m considering picking up the 3.8” barrel w/comp to reduce muzzle rise, improve recoil management, accuracy, etc.

Anyone have experience adding this barrel/comp, or have owned the RDP, which comes with this setup from the factory?

Does it affect reliability?
Does it actually keep the muzzle flatter for followup shots?

Going under the knife. Maybe I'll make a video and put it on YT, there's not a lot of SS mod stuff on there.

I love the US Silver Sky - the guitar itself, not the pickups. I have a 2023 Dodgem Blue with a rosewood board. After three years I've come to a few conclusions and decided to personalize it. I have already tried a Little 59 and a JB Jr in the bridge, which are good, but . . .

  • I have tried, but I don't like the 635JM pickups except for clean tones.
  • I don't like "Strat" bridge pickups, I grew up on an HSS Strat.
  • In 45 years of playing, I've only liked the bridge HB and the neck SC, never pos 2,3 & 4.

So I bought my favorite non PRS pickups a Suhr Thornbucker and a V63+ single, some good electronics and a custom pickguard. I'm going to use a master volume/tone, a three way blade, 500k pots, and a mini toggle for series/parallel on the HB. Moving the knobs down a bit based on my 1985 MIJ HSS Strat, which has a master vol/tone and a coil split toggle.

I'm getting the 470k ohm resistor for the SC tomorrow, then this weekend I'm starting routing and wiring the PG. I know I have to rout the bridge and the neck because the 635JM pickups don't have the angled baseplates.

Since this is a keeper, I'm going to sell the original pickups, maybe the whole loaded pickguard, whichever get the most interest.

I know some of you might cringe and be yelling at your computer - "How could you hack up and rewire a US PRS?" Since I love the guitar's weight, resonance, neck, playability and ergonomics, it's perfectly reasonable to make it "mine".
