finally found a way to bulk download from gopro cloud (without the 25-file zip limit)

the gopro cloud is a great deal for unlimited storage of gopro footage, but getting footage out is stressful. i have about 4TB of Hero 11 and 13 clips and the web app limits downloads at 25 files per ZIP and fails half the time.

i tried jDownloader and a few github scripts but they were either too buggy or kept crashing on the larger files. i eventually found a desktop app that does cloud migrations without a subscription. it connected directly to the gopro library, so i just pointed it at my ssd and let it run for a few days. it even resumed properly when my wifi dropped and sorted everything into folders by date/camera automatically.

just google search "a lifetime license desktop app that makes it easy to connect cloud providers and move files between them with no transfer fees" and it should come up. way better than babysitting those 25-file batches all day.

their ui is a bit unconventional but they have a youtube video to explain the flow https://youtu.be/TLvZ4Xo9c-g

I finally backed up my entire GoPro Cloud library to an SSD - here is what actually worked

Just finished offloading about 3 years of footage (HERO11 and HERO13 Black, around 300 GB total). I spent way too long troubleshooting different methods, so I figured I’d share the breakdown to save someone else the headache.

The "Do Not Bother" Methods:

  • GoPro Web App: You can only select 25 files at a time to download as a ZIP. I tried this about 8 times before losing my mind. The ZIPs would often fail halfway through, leaving me to guess which files actually made it. It’s a nightmare for large libraries.
  • JDownloader/GitHub Scripts: JDownloader is okay, but grabbing batches of links is tedious and the auth is flaky. I tried a few GitHub scripts too, but they didn't handle resumed downloads well, if my internet blipped, I had to start from scratch.

What actually worked: Blober.io I found a desktop app called Blober.io that connects directly to the cloud. You log in through a popup, and it pulls your entire media list.

The Learning Curve (Heads up): The UI is honestly a bit unconventional. It’s not your typical "Windows Explorer" style, so it took me a minute to figure out exactly what was where. but they have a video tutorial that explains the flow.

Why it was worth it:

  • It Resumes: My connection dropped once during the 21 hour transfer, and it just picked up where it left off instead of restarting the whole batch.
  • Auto organization: It automatically sorted everything into folders by date and camera model on my external SSD.

I ended up pushing a copy to an external SSD and another to Backblaze B2 for offsite backup. If you’re sitting on a massive GoPro library and have been dreading the "manual download" struggle, this is probably your best bet.
