TFMR for acrania

We are hurting so bad. It seems like things may never be the same.

We tfmr’d yesterday for acrania / anencephaly at 13 weeks 5 days.

It has been a blur of a week and a half since the shock diagnosis following 12 week scan.

We keep telling ourselves that we chose the most merciful of awful options, but rationality isn’t helping right now. The shock and dread leading up to yesterday has given way to raw grief and regret.

The little things have been sending us spiraling — the picture of the tiniest footprints we’ve ever seen that we try not to look at, the fact we had to leave them behind for good today because we had to fly from TX to NM for the procedure.

I know nothing can change the outcome, and we are counting our blessings as we are fortunate to have a healthy almost 3 y/o son at home. But will this hurt ever heal? What, if anything, has helped other people in similarly tragic circumstances?
