  1. Make sure basic concepts of accounting like accruals, prepaid, deferred, cash flow, etc. are crystal clear. These are the foundation of everything.

  2. After finishing each unit’s concepts, I solved MCQs and SIMs (used Gleim software): After MCQs, flag wrong answers and understand why they went wrong—make a note of it Tip: Read the last line of the MCQ first to understand what is being asked (saves time and reduces errors) In the exam, never leave a question blank—make an educated guess (no negative marking) Then practice SIMs (in gleim average 4–5 sims per unit are there) For SIMs: don’t open all exhibits at once—first understand the requirement, then go step by step

  3. Plan regular revision otherwise retention drops.

  4. After completing all MCQs, SIMs, and revision, I gave 2 full Becker mock exams and scored 75+, which gave me confidence to schedule my actual exam.

  5. For additional clarity, I also referred to notes from freefellow.org/cpa and other notes which I got from here(reddit).

  6. Focus on high-yield topics: Leases, EPS, Bonds, Governmental/NFP, Adjusting Entries, Bank Reconciliations, Consolidations, and Statement of Cash Flows. These areas are heavily tested in both MCQs and SIMs, so make sure your concepts are strong and well-practiced.

  7. During my actual exam, MCQs were mostly easy to moderate. If your concepts are clear and you’ve practiced enough, they are very manageable.

All the best—have faith in your work and in yourself.

Passed FAR on my first attempt (83) — broke down in tears

After months of hard work, sleepless nights, burnout, procrastination, anxiety, and constant battles with my own mind, I finally passed FAR on my first attempt with an 83. The moment I saw the score, I couldn’t hold back my tears. It felt like everything I went through finally made sense, and it also gave me real confidence for the next section. Truly grateful to God for making this possible. I really hope this is just the beginning, and that I can clear the remaining sections too.

Congratulations to everyone who passed, and to those who didn’t this time — keep going, your effort will pay off.
