okay, I got this autosiphon off of Amazon and it hasn’t been working for me. It seems the main issue is that there is no valve at the bottom of the main shaft, so water flows in and out too easily even with a good seal. my question is, why is there a third separate pipe with no crook with a valve? Where does it go? Was this mis-packed?

So I'm a local freelance journalist and I'm working on a story about Basix's history - for obvious reasons there wasn't a ton of coverage back in 1997 when it opened, and until the 2010s it kind of flew under the radar in the wider world, as it were. Are there any good local organizations or individuals who might have some insider knowledge of its history? Thanks!
