Is this Aphid damage?

New growth is looking all shriveled up on all of my hydrangeas that looked completely normal a week ago. Also noticing some oily residue on a crepe Myrtle close by. First pic shows some kind of tiny insect on the leaf but I can’t tell what it is.

Going to need to replace my front doors eventually, but there is no covering or overhang above it. Was looking into iron doors, but do they need to be protected?

What other kind of door would be acceptable for an installation that is completely exposed to the elements with a southwest exposure?
