I was talking with a group that wants to either start a program or partner with an existing program to meet the needs of people living in Beaverton. I suggested we might address food insecurity, and we discussed a plot of land along Farmington that could possibly host a community garden. I was told by this group that there are plenty of food pantries in Beaverton so food insecurity is already being addressed, and that no one would want to eat food grown along Farmington due to car fumes. I don't think feeding the hungry has to be our cause, but no one had an alteranative idea.
