If you are using a stationary vendor ask for an envelope proof!!!

My planner is a godsend. She asked for an envelope proof cause our invitation vendor said she was ready to print.

OMG it would have been a disaster.

- we are in Canada and half our guest list is in the US. She did not put USA or United States of America on the US envelopes.

- 2 names so far are wrong (FMIL is checking family names).

- on some of them she also did Mr and Mrs (Male first name) (Last Name). But not on all couples. I don't love this. I feel it very old fashioned to just have the males name. We did not put any prefixes unless they were Dr on the guest list doc.

All of this is thankfully fixable. But the lesson here, yes I want these invites done and out but take 5 seconds to make sure they are actually right.

We have purchased one of those beautiful wooden guest books where there is a tree of hearts that guests can sign. The hearts are various purple leaves. The trunk of the tree, image of us and our names are white.

We have a sign saying not to sign the white parts but I fear we may get a jokester trying to sign the white parts. I'm wondering if there is a clear coating I could put on those parts to protect if someone tries to.

My first thought was ceran wrap or Cricut transfer paper but both would be messy. Anyone have ideas of a product I could use to cover it that wouldn't make it look bad while it's on the table?

Ok I'm prefacing this with, I'm asking the wedding thread not the star trek thread because I want to include a bit of nerdy Trekkie me, but I want it to be covert.

(We are doing private letters where I will make all the really nerdy quotes and comments).

I am walking down the aisle to one of two star trek themes (either faith of the heart or the voyager theme song either versions by viodance). My fiance has said it's totally up to me. But my fiance is not as big of a Trekkie (but he tolerates daily trek stuff from me, for which I am greatful - if we have any Trekkies here he also bought me tribbles that he hid in my office to multiply until I noticed them). He also embarrasses easier than me. But the ceremony combines his Jewish and indigenous heritage and I have a small amount of indigenous heritage but very little of our ceremony is me (his elder is speaking as I don't have one), I'm just not religious or cultural. It's mostly him. Hence his letting me pick my aisle walk song (despite i'm sure he would prefer I pick the more subtle song of the two).

We are customizing the entire ceremony. I want to either try to intertwine a bit more of my nerdiness either in my vows or the officiants words. Here are the quotes I'm considering:

Possibly in my vows "if we join together, no force can stop us" Jadzia Dax's vows in You Are Cordially Invited - DS9.

And/or possiblly our officiant

"Does your heart beat only for this man/woman" where typical 'do you take x to be your wife/husband. (Again from You Are Cordially Invited - DS9). The second part of this is way too noticable so we could merge it with a standard do you take X/Y to be your husband/wife?

Or at the end " Then let all present here today know that this man and this woman are married". (Also from You Are Cordially Invited - DS9).

Which of these is least noticable as a quote?

I'm going to pitch them to him soon and want to see what the general non Trekkies notice. I don't want our ceremony to seem weird or obviously quoting trek but I love the idea that when I watch that episode I hear a part of our wedding because I cry (good cry) every time I watch this episode already.

Yes, I know we can do whatever we want for our wedding, but I want to pitch things that aren't noticably nerdy (but for the 3 or 4 huge trek fans in our guest list, they may laugh). It is a huge wedding and very few of our guests are mine so I don't want it to stand out, just a nice little Easter egg for me.

We are also signing our marriage license to a trek song but it is a very specific and beautiful instrumental that very few will actually recognize. It actually sounds like it's the outlander theme song if you don't know it well (song from inner light).

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
