I have a Razer Blackwidow V4 Pro with orange switches, and I have a sister who can hear a pin drop sharing a bedroom wall with me. To her, even my softest typing on it sounds like im "aggressively" typing. She says to just get a cheap "silent" membrane keyboard - but I've tested a few of those and they are also really loud, it seems companies hear "quiet" and "silent" differently than I do. With my current keyboard, 3 things are an issue sound wise:
1: Big key rattling - apparently this can be solved with keyboard lube.
2: Bottoming out keys - o rings are cheapest apparently
3: topping out keys - i cant seem to find any solution to this so do let me know if you know any.
It would be more expensive to silence my keyboard and I know that, but switching them out seems annoying and I'd be doing it often. Despite the noise of it, I love my keyboard and its features, and a cheap keyboard just won't have them. It is also a US layout, I live in Ireland (which makes most keyboards hard to find) and keyboards sold around here have a UK layout and while they're not too different, getting used to the US layout was hard enough without switching between them all the time.
I'm really stuck between these options really, money is very tight right now, I don't want to try silencing this keyboard and the topping out noise still be too loud for her, OR buy a cheap membrane keyboard that is too loud for her as well and have to keep testing new ones. So if anyone has advice on which option or experience with any please let me know. Or keyboard recommendations! I do live in Ireland though and I know most people here don't - so many recommendations are unavailable to me or have expensive shipping. I'll be grateful for anything < 3
