SporeBloom's UX has been challenging. This example shows the new Dispersal range limitations within rings for calm wind, or a drop zone with specific direction. It's pretty cool for the long ranged mushrooms!
An animation controller plays a scaling anim. on a plane with the texture in 3D space. It has an animation for each 'size' of dispersal.
The plane has the Up set to the matching 'y' of the tile that gets hovered, to account for the 3D terrain.
I do use splines to draw arrows when the user targets a tile...it's not the nice arc I had in mind, but sufficient for now?
Beyond that...lots of particle experiments for spores! Wind direction indicators etc.
There is a Demo on Steam, just felt like sharing some behind the scenes :)
