I have once again encountered disatorous results when trying to do a panel line wash. It is unfortunate as I really enjoy multi-engine aircraft as well as the WWII USN Tri-color paint scheme, so I was really looking forward to this being done. This last mishap has really killed the vibe. From the fitment being meh, and the primer causing orange peeling on the clear plastic of the nose pieces, I am left quite frusturated and have no desire to have anything more to do with this one aside from making it a paint mule. At least I got it for cheap.
I can never seem to figure out how to do a panel line wash. This time the result was my the odorless thinner eating all the way to the plastic when I attempted to wipe away the excess. All the videos I watch and forum posts I read make it seem so easy with just wiping away the excess with a slightly odorless spirits-dampened cloth after about 10 minutes. Using Alclad 2 Klear Kote, Ammo Mig PLW, and AK Odorless Thinner. I left the Alclad over 24 hours to cure. Should I have waited longer? Should I used a different gloss altogether? Or a different wash? I like how panel lining looks but I am getting tired of my attempts never panning out.
