I've been in a bit of a predicament these past few days. Since I'm going to start college in a few months, I wanted to buy myself a better, more capable laptop, with a battery that would last me the school day, be really portable, be good for school work and also gaming in my free time (I mostly play e-sport titles, but I do get into some story games every once in a while, some in my wishlist are games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2). Everyone is praising the Zephyrus series to be one of the best Windows laptops currently, so I chose those. The thing is, Zephyrus laptops offer GPUs up to a 5090. Of course, anything over a 5070 Ti is too much money for me. But here's my problem - should I get myself a 5070 and save myself a few hundred, or buy the 5070 Ti and have a peace of mind that my laptop would be a bit future-proof with its 12GB VRAM?
Many people recommend the 5070 Ti, but I just don't see the value in giving around €300 more into a 5070 Ti laptop that sometimes (in some games) doesn't even reach a double digit increase in performance over a 5070 because of its wattage limit. Also, I don't really think playing on ultra settings with raytracing on and having more than decent framerate would be really capable on a 5070 Ti.
But maybe that's just my view on this, and who knows, maybe I'll stand myself corrected.
