Hello !

I bought my first orchid a few weeks ago. It's a Phalaenopsis, but I'm not sure which kind.

I asked my parents to drill me on the care (they have like 20 orchids between the two of them), so I soak / drown the pot for 45 min every two week, then drain it (and ensure it's fully drained)... and that's it.

Today, I noticed it had weird bugs on it, and three flowers were wilted (one of them had a lot of the bugs). I freaked out, cut the wilted flowers and threw them away (instead of taking a picture). When I touched them, they seemed a little sticky to the touch ? I took additional pictures.

  • Can you tell me if the bugs are nasty ?
  • If so, if I can save my orchid, and how ?
  • And what kind of Phalaenopsis I have ?

Thanks for your help !

▲ 3 r/ferns

Hello !

I got a fern from a friend. It doesn't look in a good condition, but it also doesn't look so bad ? It's my first fern. They dug it up from a local vacant lot, and got bored, asked me if I wanted it.

Location is west of Europe (Scharzwald).

I'd be grateful for an ID on that fern, and any tips on taking care of it

I know that most boas and vipers are ovoviviparous, that pythons are oviparous, and I can find several sources saying that some snakes are viviparous, some even giving examples of specific viviparous snake species... that I cannot verify.

Can someone confirm or infirm whether viviparous snakes exist, and if they do, provide an example of specific species ?

Examples of sources saying viviparous snakes exists / providing specific viviparous snake species examples:

When I try to cross-verify those sources (I must admit only with wikipedia), it gets contradicted :(

Edit: I found several sources (scientific articles, not click-baity blogs) that confirm that viviparous snakes exist, some of which give specific examples. I'll update tomorrow with a compiled list, it's getting late in my timezone.
