So I just got back from MEPS today. This was my second time going to MEPS and my second time getting sent back home for the same thing.

The last time I went to MEPS, they sent me home because they thought my Astigmatism was something else that could be getting worse.

This time around, I brought paper work that showed in the last 5 years nothing has gotten worse and that it is a simple
Astigmatism. Just to let you know, THEY DO NOT CARE. Even though I had the clear paper work, the examiner or the MEPS branch rep did not even look at the paper work and ordered me a “consult” to come back.

All this to say, no matter what you have, if you are below a certain vision status, they will not pass you through without a waiver, this was also told to me back another examiner.

I am married and shipping off to BMT soon. I don’t know my pay exactly, will I be getting paid regular base pay plus BAH while in boot camp?

Hello, I have already taken my ASVAB and made a 86.
I know my line scores and qualify for most jobs. When I first started I had to get a morale waiver for smoking weed in high school. This has since been approved and my next step is MEPS. My recruiter is hell bound on putting me in special operations and says “because you have a waiver and we did that for you, you have to be flexible and listen jobs that are bookable.”

I understand this and I do plan on listing a couple bonus jobs (which should be bookable) and then some cyber, intelligence, or science based jobs. I have zero interest in special forces or the extensive pipline. I am very physically fit and active (23 yo). Why are they pushing this so hard, is it because they are a special operation recruiting station or do they get a better promotion packet?

I would like someone’s perspective and what I should say if it comes down to me being told I have to list a couple. Could I go to a non special operation recruiter and get better results?
