How Bad Is It...

I needed to disconnect and temporarily move my AC unit so I could waterproof my basement. Well, my basement guy recommended a friend who would do it for cheap. He disconnected no issue and when it came time to reconnect he is fully MIA. I've called around a bit to get someone out and am fully aware it's a "we dont know what we are walking into" situation with anyone but I did chat one company and the guy explicitly called out how bad it would be if the guy simply threw some electrical tape on when disconnecting. Well... turns out that's exactly what happened.

The AC unit is only 2 years old and I'm now terrified it's absolutely shot after sitting here disconnected through an Ohio winter.

How bad is this? 10% chance I'm screwed? Truly 50/50? Is it over with and I'm being optimistic... any insights sincerely appreciated.

I do have a guy coming from a reputable business in a few days and want to know how much I trust their "diagnosis" vs getting a second opinion.
