Something cool I found out about Swan Lake during Soviet Russia
During Soviet Russia, Swan Lake used to be played on loop on the TV during periods between the death of a Soviet leader and choosing a successor. It was originally meant to help calm viewers down but because it kept happening, people would see Swan Lake on the TV as a symbol of political unrest.
The ballet’s connotation has changed again in the modern day. Currently, Swan Lake imagery has been used to protest Russia’s war against Ukraine.
I wonder if any of this has influenced Odette’s character. She seems to be part of the faction that opposes Project Stuzha which is part of the Tsaritsa’s war against Celestia.
Spoiler/Leak?>!There’s a theory (it might’ve been a leak?) that Odette was La Signora’s adopted daughter and might take her role as the 8th harbinger.!<
I know that Snezhnaya takes more inspo from Imperial Russia than Soviet and that we’ll get more information when Odette and Snezhnaya releases, but I don’t think it’s entirely coincidence.
What do you guys think?
