Used 2016 or 2019 Crosstrek for cold climates?

I'm trying to decide between two used options for a long term purchase:

2019 Crosstrek, 36,000kms, 18,900 CAD (private sale) 2016 Crosstrek, 72,000kms, 14,000 CAD (3rd party dealer)

Both are rebuilt title in BC (Canada), which is a weird market currently being flooded by rebuilt vehicles as fender benders somehow manage to total vehicles in repair costs. There's new stuff going up all the time.

The unique circumstances here is that I'm from the Yukon, and will be driving the vehicle back up to the territory. Cars go through hell to survive through winters here, and newer Subarus somehow managed to be some of the most reliable cars through one of the worst cold snaps we've had in a while.

The 2016 model seems concerningly cheap so I'm wondering if some sort of issue has come up. I'm aware leaking cam carriers is the most cliche issue, so I'll have an eye out for that.

Infotainment system issues in the 2019 model aren't a concern to me, as I'm likely to rip the whole thing out and replace it with a third party head unit. My big concern are windshield replacements... I expect to at least get one chip on the roadtrip back up!

Would love to hear some input... I've mostly driven Toyotas, so jumping ship to these cars is a bit new for me.
