New Night Feeds
Our 6 month old has recently started waking up in the night having previously slept through ~11 hours since 2 or 3 months old. He’s been gaining weight nicely and has always sat around or above the 50th centile.
We’ve found the only way to get him back to sleep is to give him a bottle. He’s combi fed now, so he gets 210ml of formula when he wakes, usually anywhere between 11pm - 4am. We’ve tried letting him self soothe, only for around 5-10 minutes as any longer is agonising, laying a hand on him in the cot, head stroking, picking him up to rock him, changing him and then rocking, but nothing else seems to put him back to sleep.
We’ve tried I creasing daytime calories now he’s weaning; getting all the day milk he used to drink which was between 1 - 1.2l (mixture of formula and pumped breast milk) and then porridge for breakfast and two decent sized portions (I’d say for his age) of vegetables around 5pm.
Has anyone else experienced this, are we doing the right thing feeding him in the night, have you got any tips?
