Help! I’m about to pull my hair out. 1974 evinrude 15hp 15404s. Rebuilt carb, 100 psi on each cylinder, good fuel lines, good spark plugs, pumping water good. Why is it misfiring like this? Is it really just the idle adjustment screw? I turned it up and it seems to be doing better, but I have it nearly two full turns out from seated already. I don’t want to get out on the water to do a test and get stuck.
I need some help figuring this one out. I bought engine a week ago and have since rebuilt the carb and changed the impeller and the spark plugs. Now it’ll run, but once it gets warmed up it won’t push any power. I’m thinking the coils might be delaminating, since I’ve had that happen on weed eaters and such before with similar symptoms. I serviced the lower as well. Is my diagnosis correct? What else should I check before I have to pull the flywheel? Also do you think this has enough water coming out? It’s hard to tell on this old thing.
