Meibomian Gland dysfunction due to accutane

Hi, I just wanted to ask for help and advice from anyone who experienced mgd as a side effect during/ after accutane. The course didn’t even fully clear my acne and left me with this terrible side effect. I’m feeling really really discouraged and am at a low :( if anyone has experienced this I would love to hear how you were able to deal with this.

23M, second round of Accutane (10mg/night, ~6 months in) — still getting cystic acne. Anyone relate?

Some background: severe acne in high school, mostly on my nose, forehead, and chin. First full Accutane course cleared those areas, but afterward, my cheeks (which had barely broken out before) started getting hit with cystic acne out of nowhere. Weirdly, my brothers all did fine on Accutane the first time; I'm the only one it didn't fully work for.

Started a second round this year at a lower 10mg/night dose (it's been 4 years since course one), and I'm about 6 months in and still getting multiple cysts. It's been rough, just graduated from college and still find it hard to look in the mirror some days, and it's affected my confidence in dating and just generally.

Current regimen (all cleared by my derm): gentle cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, clindamycin, pimple patches. Doesn't feel like enough for the cystic stuff, though.

Has anyone else had a course "not work" the first time, or had new areas flare up after a prior course? Curious what helped, and how you talked to your derm about adjusting things.

Hoping for Acne Advice (23M - Cystic and regular acne popping up even on 2nd round of accutane)

Hi, just for some context, ever since high school, I've had really severe acne and have been going to the dermatologist regularly. Initially, most of my acne was on my nose, forehead, and chin. I took my first cycle of Accutane, and while it worked for those regions, for some reason, my cheeks, which never really had that much acne, started getting severe acne. I started my second round this year, but on a lower 10 mg a night dose (it's been 4 years since I took my first full cycle), but it's been about 6 months in, and I am still getting multiple cysts.

It's really frustrating because while all my brothers and I took Accutane, for some reason, it only didn't work for me the first time around. I just graduated from college, and I still struggle to look at myself confidently in the mirror, and this has honestly hindered me so much of my life from trying to get in relationships and ruined my self-worth.

I wanted to ask if anyone has been in a similar situation and what I could maybe try to do to improve my cystic acne? I just have a simple regimen where I use face wash, moisturizer, and sunblock as well as clyndamycin and pimple patches (all of which have been cleared by my dermatologist, but maybe they aren't good for cysts>). I'm wondering if maybe its my stomach health and Im thinking to take pro-biotics but I'm open to suggestions.
