"Check out" the trailer for my upcoming short film CHECKING OUT
Really sweet story about this project; earlier this year I had a script that I was working on just for fun. I really didn't know where this project was going to end up going (not that any of us do really) but I kept working on it because I believed in it. Then I came across this YouTube video, seemingly harmless, but the title of which I could NOT believe: "I will film your movie for free"
The person making the video, Paul, was actually a DP who was trying to connect with directors who wanted to grow. I really didn't know if he would like my draft, but I submitted it anyways because I took this as a sign that this project was meant to move forward. Paul loved the script.
But the story doesn't stop there. As Paul and I were working in pre-production, I came across a post on Reddit of all places! Another potential collaborator, u/Defiant_Holiday_7519, made a post asking if there were any other indie film makers trying to get their project color graded (for free). Again, I took this as a sign that this project was meant to be made. So I reached out and he was interested in the project.
All this to say, this film means a lot to me. It means a lot that I found future collaborators on future projects. It means a lot to me that friends and family are really excited about it. And I am forever grateful for all the hard work that the cast/crew put into this.
Thank you, Reddit, for being such a great resource and place to find community. Let me know what you think about the trailer and, hopefully, more to come soon as I submit to festivals beginning next year!
