Middle age career change advice

Hi all,

I’m from self employed background (15 years) & have recently gone back to school to persue Masters in (accounting).

Young family, brutal hours plus I am really bored in my current business and wanted a change into business advisory or tax though I’m not completely sure yet.

Any advice for me from similar experiences? I have an internship lined up at mid tier firm which will get some experience. I’m considering trying to get a job 2-3 days in accounting and go part time at university next year.

For a potential full time role post degree am I better of working part time in accounting while studying or knock out the degree by end of 2027.

All advice appreciated

Edit: the time difference in completing degree part time vs full time would be 2 more years vs 1 year.

Seen many near entry level jobs requiring CA/CPA. Seriously?

As the title says I keep seeing near entry level accounting/finance roles requiring CA/CPA.

Is this how cooked the market is or is it normal?

Low cost/maintenance ideas to beautify this roundabout

It’s currently a bit ghetto apart from the awesome gum.

What would be a nice ground to plant that will spread with colour or other idea to make it look a bit nicer? Native grasses etc - I have a heap of natives I can propagate from and don’t mind if it takes time.

Financial Management 90060 how hard is the exam historically?

If the POF threads are anything to go by this could be brutal.

Anyone taken the exam? I’m battling to keep on top of the 103 formulas given & more important when to use each 😫

Study or chill before a 12.30pm exam?

About as prepared as I’m going to be.

Best way to prepare?

My next exams aren’t until next week so I’m thinking to preserve energy by taking it easy in morning to be fresh for the exam (3 hours no mcq)

If someone asks a dumb question on Ed board will I get in trouble for Rickrolling them?

Someone asks for an exam formula sheet that’s been available on LMS since week 1 is it permitted to troll them?

The number of stupid questions on Ed thst can easily be found on LMS jfc

Why is everyone so afraid to speak in tutes?

Is this cultural? Is everyone scared to be wrong? Are you shy? What gives!?

Private tutors for Quantitive methods?

  1. Are they legal, purely to teach & reinforce concepts?
  2. Where are the best places to find a tutor?

I’m battling through the content & it’s draining my time on other subjects. I’m going to all tutes and lectures plus extra drop in classes and need extra help. The assignments are fine but the mst everyone said was easy I found difficult, despite a heap of study.

What’s something a hiring / manager said that subtly said you weren’t getting the job?

I was down to the final 2 had a GM mention at the end of an interview “you should join this department which would suit you”

An area he knew I had experience in but was looking to move away from.
