V10 is finally confirmed. Is it really worth anything at this point?

V10 is finally confirmed. Is it really worth anything at this point?

For starts, my apologies if this might be close to breaching Rules 2 & 8 (in that case, it's on twitter so...i'm not too sure about that since it's public)

But as we saw earlier today/yesterday, V10 is officially greenlit, even though that was already kinda confirmed before...but now we get a video confirmation!! And the crowd goes mild...

At the moment of this screenshot it has barely over 35,000 views. That's just...not good...and that's me trying to be "nice" about it

I don't know what convention this is but, it really does look like it was a shadowdrop, like a surprise announcement. The thing is, for something like that to work properly, they would have to be popular to do it. This crowd is pitiful. Granted it's not like an RTX con, but still this is like a handful of people excited over literally nothing.

Especially now, with major competition that's eclipsed them in views, such as Invincible (though tbh that's not indie), The Backrooms, and TADC. For TADC, that's not really my cup of tea, but seeing that it's straight up getting millions of views like it's just a normal Monday for them, I should give it a shot soon. IIRC, they even had a move theater release just for one of their episodes? Yeah that's just aura farming at that point

When was the last time RWBY had anything close to that? Genuinely never.

I apologize if I sound like an egotistical prick, but as someone who aspires/dreams of creating an indie series with TADC numbers/popularity, S1-3 action choreography, and like, Halo Reach type cutscenes (like the scenes where Noble team is coordinating together to take Elites down, and not just MC soloing the Covenant like he's fighting kindergartners), RWBY at this point seems like a bible of what not to do with regard to storytelling, BTS drama, animation quality, how to write minorities, including LGBT themes, etc, etc.

I'm not gonna pretend to know what they've been doing the past like, 2-3 years, but the fact that we got nothing, along with still nothing now except confirmation that it's greenlit is troublesome. Assuming it's pre-production like script writing and maybe storyboarding and asset building, we can only assume that they'll soon start animating. Which means we won't get the show for another 2 years at least. Add to that, the fact that it took so long to finally have the series watchable on a single streaming site, it's like getting debuffs in Elden ring over and over and over again.

Also, what do they hope to achieve here? I've said this before, but imo, the series would have to wrap it up in S10, as I genuinely do not believe the show to be capable to get the numbers it needs to justify going to S11 and beyond. People are still begging for the action to look like S1-3, for them to hire animators/storyboard artists or whomever that can mimic it as close as can be. And for literal years, they refused to do so, and rightfully suffered the consequences

Another thing is one of the last controversies that hurt the series in its last years before RT shut down Remember this?

I forgot that Blake's VA did that. I cannot confirm if it really was to try and wry control of the literal anime's writing back to the American team, but if that really was the case, what a horrendous way to do that. We (at least I can't) can't confirm if the allegations are true, and it seems they aren't but the thing is, why the fuck is she getting involved in any way like that? I't another case of her applying her own values to an entirely different culture. And it seems that could be the main reason why we never got more Ice Queendom, which sucks bc I actually really enjoyed that.

Any other production, she'd be fucking fired on the spot, and Blake would get another VA.

And to the last point that probably doesn't matter much but definitely seems like a desperate grab for cash. The OF thing. There's nothing wrong, at least imo if women wanna do that. But the main problem, imo, is the people doing it, and the timing. With Barbara and Arryn both recently creating their OF, and cosplaying as Black and Yang in their shoots, it seems very poor taste. It looks like they're trying to bank off whatever popularity Bumbleby had at it's peak. I hate to be a think of the kids guy, but that is a concern in this case imo. The show is trying to get newer viewers, and them practically doing OF in character seems irresponsible. Compare that to Jessica Nigri, who was already doing that shit way way before. And even then she is like, a model/cosplayer turned VA, and still cosplays other characters and shit. And the best part? She minds her own business. CRWBY and RT have a problem with a holier than thou attitude, and it led to this.

Let the record also show the funniest unintentional meme was the "homophobic Ruby" rant. And it's funnier specifically because IIRC, the VA for Ruby hates it.

Sorry for that last rant, I honestly want the show to do well, but I'm so sick of the issues (boring animation, ass writing, everything I mentioned above), STILL not being fixed/addressed, no actual news, and whatever expectations they should have from a fanbase that's barely alive because of their own mediocrity

My (updated) grievances with RWBY

After seeing some recent mental gymnastics so absurd, they could be in their own Olympics category, I can't help but just, almost vent here, the issues I have with the show, the way it is now. I apologize if this is breaking Rules 1, 2, or any others. I'll get straight to the point.

I'm not against the idea/concept of Blake and Yang being together, but I am very much against the execution of it, and its immediate fallout.

In IRL time, the show spent years teasing them together, and not even that well. The issue, imo is that the show doesn't have enough budget to accommodate them, since the episodes barely go past 12 minutes, and the seasons barely go past like 13 episodes.

The only examples, at least, from what I can remember, are when Yang is complimenting Blake's haircut, teaching her to dance, and a selfie. Those are like, the "fun" moments between them. The issue I have is that it feels so forced, like the episode is pausing for them to do that, and then the show continues. Instead of them casually bantering or finding something they actually have in common? Imagine a bit of a slice of life episode, where Ironwood (RIP the goat) tells the team "Alright, you 4 slaughtered Grimm like Anakin slaughters younglings, and you just finished that stupid Arrowfell shit, take the week off" and it was the team just doing whatever for a week. That way they could finally show the two actually bonding, or at least show them doing something together other than stabbing Adam to death.

Let the record show that in S9, they were trapped in Weenie Hut Jrs. version of Silent Hill, and were not allowed to leave until they were forced to say "I love you" to each other. That's just toxic imo, especially since they're not ready at that time. That's just an absurdly toxic way to begin a relationship

And after, when Ruby is crashing out, Yang actually stands in front of Blake, as if she really considered Ruby a threat. Like wtf?? But no, somehow anyone with even a remotely similar opinion is considered homophobic.

Aside from that, are people really thinking that S10 is going to be the save and grace for the series, when it absolutely wont. I don't know what their budget is, but S10 is already coming with so many things going against it that it's practically guaranteed to fail. Imo, here's what it has going against it:

- Limited episodes (likely the same, like 12 or something like that)

- pitifully short episodes (again, likely barely over 11 minutes if even that)

- episode one is likely just the original S9 finale that we were supposed to get, even if it's not 1-1

-dwindling fanbase, already even worse than before RT was shut down.

-unresolved plotlines they likely won't have the time to actually get to.

Also, I don't even think Burnie has RWBY anymore, despite having control of Roosterteeth again. Not that it matters really, though it certainly might not help things otherwise. And while I know it's been said to death, the abuse the animators suffered through while under Gray. Most people don't care about that stuff and only care about the finished product, but it still needs to be said. In a perfect world, I'd give control of the series to DillonGoo studios and tell them to just go "do whatever you want, but restart from S3, I'm out"
