Our rescue is finally settling in!!!

Our rescue is finally settling in!!!

It’s been a little over six months since we impulsively rescued this gentle giant from going to a high-kill shelter.

He had nightmares for the first nine weeks and needed someone with him at all times to comfort him.

We have taken him to the beach for the first time and he learned to swim! We took him to a spring fed river yesterday and not only did he swim, but he tried to rescue several people! People we didn’t know!

He loves children. They’re his favorite.

Today, he asked for a treat for the first time and two days ago, he finally played with a toy for the first time!

He’s such a love. He’s genuinely a fantastic dog. So loving and gentle and he understands what’s expected so quickly and tries to do what us humans want immediately.

He’s even learned to come!! So far, it only works if he knows you have cheese, but it’s definitely a work in progress.

He’s learned sit, paw, down, up (for the car), leave it, all done, and he knows what come means, he just usually chooses not to listen, lol

At the dog park, he will now wait for us and turn around to check on us which is new.

Those first few weeks with no sleep were rough, but I’m thankful we stuck it out. He’s an excellent dog and I’m so thankful he’s a part of our family!

Woman lying about interaction with my dog and threatening legal action. Advice needed.

I did attempt to post in legal advice, but it wouldn’t let me regardless of how I formatted my location.

Background:

Last summer, my dogs were playing in a small toddler pool in the front yard when a woman walking dog began to walk by our home.

My dogs ran to say hello to her and her dog. She began screaming. I called my dogs back and apologized. At no point did my dogs touch her or her dog.

She claimed she was more worried about my dogs because her dog is “violent”, “reactive”, and “extremely aggressive” with other dogs.

She went about her day and life moved on.

**Todays issue**

Fast forward to last week.

My husband and I are out front gardening and I am opening the front door to go inside when my black lab scoots by me to run go say hello to a woman walking her dog by our house. It’s the same woman.

My dog stops when told to and immediately goes inside. At no point did my dog touch her or her dog. He did not even get within three feet of her personal space.

Woman is screaming hysterically that her dog could’ve killed my dog, etc and then starts screaming about “leash laws”. Yes, my dogs are now always on leash or a line when they are outside, but this was an accident and nothing happened besides my dog approaching her.

Today, we received a certified letter that her dog is supposedly “under a vet care for injuries sustained in an attack” by my dog.

My husband and my adult son were right there. Our dog never got close enough to touch her OR her dog.

Our dog has many dog and human friends.

Should we hire an attorney at this point as I think she’s gearing up to sue our landlords homeowners insurance?

Should we also go ahead and get character witnesses for our dog from his human friends, people he has interacted with, and the human owners of his dog friends?

Update on rescued kitten! Decided on a name and one of our dogs has adopted her!

Her name is Lucky, but we are also calling her Squeaker because she doesn’t “meow”, she squeaks!

Our dog, loves her. He grooms her and she falls asleep beside him.

Have a vet visit planned to get her all of her shots, her microchip, and will be looking into getting her a spray voucher for the future.

None of our five resident cats like her yet, so that’s been a little bit of a challenge to make sure she enough play time without risking anything, but it’s working out so far.

Think positive thoughts that our resident kitties will eventually love her too.

App will randomly take away daily quest points?

Logged in today after finishing a friends Friend’s quest last night and my May quest points were at 49. After completing a lesson, my May quest points showed up as 45. After completing two quest points today, I’m only back to 47.

This has happened to me before, but I didn’t get photos of it. This month, I’ve taken photos of my quest points every day so I have proof that the app is taking points.

Has anyone else had this problem? Why is this happening? I’m annoyed, I pay for this thing and it feels like my “work” is being stolen from me.

Small kitten ran in front of my son’s car on a highway.

He saw her as he sat at red light and she managed to run across five lanes during the red light! She stopped directly in front my son’s car. He was able to get out, stop traffic behind him as the light had turned green, call to her, and scoop her up before she was run over!

She weighed only about 9oz and is about 4 weeks old. We have no idea how she got there or how she was able to make it across the road, but she’s home and she very sweet.

We haven’t named her yet, but I think Lucky would be a good name because she’s extremely lucky she wasn’t hit, maimed, or killed during her mad dash across the road!

Florida Rescue Update!

This guy, our big ‘ol “chicken little”, had nightmares every night for about eight and a half weeks. We rotated sleeping on the floor with him every, single night.

Then one day, he just mostly stopped and he seems to realize he’s “home”.

He learned our routine quickly, stopped attempting to play with our cats, and finally started barking at the delivery men, our neighbors, and everyone else who happens to be walking by our home.

He’s very sweet and extremely loving. People smile when they see him and beg to “come say hi”.

Luckily for us, he’s very people friendly and adores all of the attention!

I know my last post was a wee bit dramatic, but in my defense, I hadn’t really slept in days after bringing him home. We ended up just roughing it out and we are glad we did!! He’s a love!
