On the table today is Chemical Overload.

This is a deck builder with a really easy automa, with two levels of automa deck and a lot of variety with the many different potion decks. Components are nice in the deluxe version, in my first play I got humped by the automa in easy. It’s a keeper.

On the table this evening is Camping Season.

This was my UKGE impulse purchase. It’s a bag building game where you manage a camping site. The theme and artwork are gorgeous, the game is really simple where you spend money on projects, upgrades and maintenance for your park before revealing what extra guests are arriving, then you simply draw guests from your bag up to your visitor capacity attempting to place them on the right spaces (providing you have built the sites), and hopefully not pulling maintenance tokens where you have to roll the dreaded maintenance dice, which basically degrades one of 6 areas. The game is a neat little management sim with zero player interaction, hence lending itself easily to solo play. There are also solo missions you can try and achieve. My only negative is, having bought the deluxe version with card sleeves, if you choose to sleeve the cards there is no way you will fit them in the provided insert, all the pieces barely fit as it is, which is a real shame as the production quality with the components is really nice. Gets an 8/10 on first playthrough, a keeper for now.

Lord Of The Rings: Two Towers The Trick Taking Game.

First attempt at playing this solo with 4 characters, played 5 times, not even close to winning.

Propopolis

Quick first game of Propopolis, a very simple Beeple placement game, it’s a beat your own score game with the automa just getting in the way, very easy to run.

On the table this weekend, Yonder.

Played twice, first two handed to learn the rules then pure solo, beat the automa by a point, really easy low overhead automa. The game is a simple worker placement with a nice theme. I can see at multiplayer it being easy to screw people’s plans. Good game.

World Order arrives

When Kickstarters are like buses, yesterday Yonder, today my most anticipated game of 2026, World Order. From the moment I play tested this a few years ago at UKGE.

Covenant

This weeks game on the table is Covenant, a really tight (just 12 turns) game from Devir. The cleverness comes on your ability to chain actions together at the right time so you end up doing more than 12 actions. It’s very good, solo play is very easy via the turn of a card.

Finspan

This weekends solo game, Finspan, been wanting to get this to the table for a while to see if it’s worth keeping, the answer is yes, with an expansion due soon. Decent, quick card play.

Learning game of Star Wars The Deck Building game, two handed to learn the rules before I try the solo mode from BGG. What better way to celebrate Star Wars Day……….this could be a Star Realms killer!
