A cheese tactic for beating legendary animals

So when you step out of the fighting arena it takes some time to reset the combat. Shadow of Nyx becomes available as soon as the enemy loses sight of you, even for a moment. The main point is tamed animals' combat reset time is slightly longer than the player's. If you manage to enter the combat arena during this very brief period using Shadow of Nyx, the beast is technically unaware of your presence so it won't attack your pet. You just stay invisible inside the combat arena till your pet exhausts full HP of the legendary animal.

An easy method to beat Arges the Bright One

Heavy blunt LLH combo deals massive damage. At level 99 a single combo is enough to defeat him provided you have good gears.

The Beastmaster ability, everything you need to know about taming

Hi fellows, considering the significant number of new and returning player to this game after Nolan's movie (I absolutely loved it, not on the screen he intended to experience but I had a great time nonetheless!), I decided to make a detailed post about the Beastmaster hunter ability that lets you tame certain predators. It's obvious this is one of the most underrated ability in the game. The point of this post is to convince my fellow Eagle Beares that an alpha bear has the potential to carry you the entire game including conquest battles! You don't require any RNG, no epic gear farming, no store item!

How to tame: You have take down the animal by any non lethal means. Only the final blow needs to be non lethal. Devastating shot with paralyzing arrows, Sparta Kick etc are all excellent options. The ability description explains which animals are tameable.

Level prerequisite: The minimum level requirement for this particular set up that I'm about to jot down is 22.

Weapons and armors: The legendary sword Pandora's Kopis provides 100% HP and 50% DPS for your pet. Obviously, this item is necessary. You are required to defeat a level 22 boss (challenging at this level) to obtain the sword. The sword unlocks the said legendary engraving but for some inexplicable reason it can only be put on BOWS. By no means this engraving alone is sufficient, your pets will die quite easily even with this buff!! To make them NEAR IMMORTAL you have to make use of an utility. Poison has an weakening effect: when you intoxicate an enemy (poison meter full) both their armor and damage are reduced meaning you inflict more damage and they do less. This is the one and only one way to make tamed animals a viable strategy to take on multiple elite enemies. Poison mastery is a passive ability (assassin tree) that adds 25% weaking effect when maxed out. The legendary Snake is provides 30% of the same! Believe it or not the aggregate 55% weakening effect is more than enough for your pet to take on 20 levels higher mercenaries! This utility greatly nerfs all damage types but elemental damage over time, so both fire and poison are serious threats to your pet. When your tamed animal gets poisoned from enemies the weakening effect applies as well; but it is nowhere as strong as the Snake set. It is necessary to obtain the Snake set before you experiment with taming. How you apply poison to enemies is up to you, poison arrow is the best option. If you can beat the mercenary carrying Arachne stingers early on that's great. Resources are very expensive so it's recommended you use engravings such as basic arrows become poison arrows or 50% chance to not consume special arrows or both; they are unlocked by simply looting certain legendary treasure chests.

Performance comparison of all animals: Always tame alpha animals because their base stats are considerably higher than the regular ones. I don't know if there is any alpha lynx available in the game, never found one.

  • Health: Bear > Lion > Leopard > Wolf > Lynx.

  • Damage: Lion > Bear > Leopard > Lynx >= Wolf.

  • Aggression: Lion > Bear > Lynx > Leopard > Wolf.

  • Agility: Leopard >= Lynx > Lion > Wolf > Bear (can't dodge).

  • Performance against shielded enemies: Bear >>> Lynx > Lion = Leopard > Wolf.

So, only bears can bypass shields! None of the other animals possess this invaluable ability. Lynxes often clutch an enemy from behind dealing massive damage, this combo ignores shields. Heavy attacks from lions and leopards also bypass shields. Wolves have no heavy attack combo. The damage from behind and damage after parry engravings apply to your pets attack too! I'm not aware of other perks that apply to tamed animals' attacks.

Impact of the game difficulty level: Tamed animals are treated as enemies even after they've been tamed. The DPS/HP ratio of enemies is strictly greater than 1 and the number increases as you turn up the game difficulty level. Because of this tamed animals are deadly on Nightmare, on lower difficulties they are merely a distraction weapon. On easy they are borderline useless. If you are on PC you can use a Nexus mod to increase enemy damage and you'll see some real fun! The same thing applies for your lieutenants too when summoned via Call to Arms.

An annoying glitch: After a reload, an alpha loses its alpha status in terms of damage, it's a weird glitch. It'll still show as an alpha but you'll clearly notice the damage reduction; so, always tame a new one when your pet dies.

Unique Elite bears: There are two unique bears in the game tagged as "Elite" not alpha. You can find them in the caves in that very big huntress camp in Chios, level 50 area though. They are of the same size as regular bears but have health and damage equal to an alpha. They are more aggressive! More attacks! Unfortunately, they don't respawn so you have to do some work to keep them with you throughout the game. As they don't respawn, they don't despawn either; so if they die reload an early save, go to a stranded island, untame the animal and instantly make a manual save. After you reload that save the bear will regain its Elite status and you can tame again. Imo they are probably the best animal companion you can have.

DLC engravings: If you own the DLCs there are 3 excellent engravings for your pet. You can let your animal inflict poison or fire damage. Enemy elemental damage is way stronger than the player's. As mentioned earlier tamed animals are treated as enemies, in effect the DoT from your pet's fire/poison will be way stronger than yours and that damage is also multiplied by Pandora's Kopis perk. Intoxicate applies to nearby enemies is an extremely useful perk to use in your beastmaster build. Fire ticks faster than poison, but poison is stronger due to the weakening effect.

Alpha animal locations: I mention some of the locations that are close to a sync point.

  • Bear: Bear Grotto in Phokis, Routsouna Waterfall in Naxos, Salty Bear in Lokris etc.

  • Lion: Growling cave in Pirate Island, Lion's Den in Delos etc.

  • Leopard and Lynx: I don't remember the name but in Hydra (Obsidian Island) where you met Roxana, there is an alpha leopard location. There are probably 50+ lynxes on that island (not alpha) too. In Athens near a shipdock (nearby to Heitor mission) 3 lynxes spawn.

  • Wolf: They are everywhere, you can find one in Naxos. You can go to Kephallonia as well.

I hope you guys will reconsider the taming aspect of this game. You can literally turn AC Odyssey into FC Primal with this set up. Enjoy.

An inexplicably weird thing happened! Heavy spoiler on Cult of Kosmos!

This is completely unbelievable! Let me describe the situation, I had no idea this could even happen. My ongoing mission was the serpents' lair (it's that mainstory mission where you discover the whole cult system). I had my bounty meter full. After talking to Herodotus I entered the grotto wearing that cult outfit. As soon as the first cutscene in which a cultist greets you as a new recruit ends, a bounty hunter out of nowhere spawned in the middle of that lair near the artifact!!! A fight ensued, I had no weapons, couldn't run, couldn't dodge, couldn't parry and obviously couldn't change the loadout as these utilities are all disabled in that area. But the lady who greets you first charged at the mercenary and he reverted his attention to her. In the brawl she died and another cultist was killed by the mercenary's poison bomb. Finally, the mercenary was killed by who is presumably >!Kallias!<. After completing the mission the cultist who was killed by a poison bomb is revealed to be >!Silanos of Paros!<, the cultist who first greets you at the entrance is revealed to be >!Zoisme!<. I was too stunned to hit record what happend so I couldn't capture the moment. Paros' leader has already been changed as you can see in the picture. I'm really excited to see what happens when I finally reach Naxos as this event simply breaks the mainstory!!

Performance of all different tamed animals

I didn't include a lynx because that's a oneshot for Krokottas. I used fire engraving for pets, poison is way stronger though due to the weakening effect. Leopards ain't that bad in general. Lion for highest damage, bear highest HP (bypasses shields!!!), leopard and lynx for best agility (significantly less attack), sadly wolf is of no use.

Edit: A couple of points worth noting.

  1. Always tame alphas and use your pets in conjunction with the Snake set and Pandora's Kopis. The poison weakening effect will allow them to take on multiple mercenaries without dying. Both elemental DoT, esp. poison is a massive threat to them.

  2. After a reload, an alpha loses its alpha status in terms of damage, it's a weird glitch. It'll still show as an alpha but you'll clearly notice the damage reduction. So, always tame a new one when your pet dies.

  3. Only bears' attacks ignore shields! All other animals will have great difficulty fighting a group of elite Spartan dudes carrying heavy shields.

  4. An important point, tamed animals are treated as enemies even after they've been tamed. The DPS/HP ratio of enemies is strictly greater than 1 and the number increases as you turn up the game difficulty level. Because of this tamed animals are deadly on Nightmare, on lower difficulties they are merely a distraction weapon. If you are on PC you can use a mod to increase enemy damage without increasing enemy HP and you'll see some real fun! The same thing applies for your lieutenants too when summoned via Call to Arms.

  5. There are two unique bears in the game tagged as "Elite" not alpha. You can find them in the caves in that very big huntress camp in Chios, level 50 area though. They are of the same size as regular bears but have health and damage equal to an alpha, but they are more aggressive!

I'm calling this an "ignore" build!

I was laughing the whole time, best mercenary teamwork ๐Ÿคฃ

Edit: I should have added the build as well. I use this loadout for funny stuff like this or when I have some contracts like burn resource crates, loot nation treasures etc so I can literally ignore everything and accomplish my target!

It's the Greek Heros set which is obtained by beating certain mercenaries. Minimum level requirement to equip the full set is 49. The legendary perk of this set grants 30% all resistances. With the help of mastery points this set allows you to be completely immune (ideally after level 91, possible before if you grind a lot) to two of the main damage types and you need that unique spear that has melee resistance on it (from Thaletas/Kyra mission). I went with melee and elemental damage (both fire and poison are incredibly fatal on Nightmare) immunity, normal arrows drain my HP. I have probably 85% ranged resistance and full chance to mitigate half incoming damage so I don't take big damage from normal arrows. In addition, if you have the Mighty Herakles set (immunity to burning) or the Myrmidon set (immunity to intoxication), you can be fully resistant to melee, ranged and one of the elemental damage depending on which set you have, if you own both of them you get to choose your preferred type. There are other types of damages in the game too, for example those overhead axe/hammer jump attacks from brutes, mercenaries count as collision damage, same damage type for bosses like Arges' nasty grab and smash attack, Medusa's stone gaze, water damage while drowning etc. Only chance to ignore half damage and poison weakening effect mitigate collision damage, for other two types I don't know any counter.

Even with this amount of resistances ๐Ÿ are there to make you humble in 3 bites

Level 26 vs Level 99!

This is an alternative of "This is Sparta!" with the main advantage that it works on all human enemies irrespective of their levels! You only have to position yourself before spamming Fury of the Bloodline.

Battlefield build

Hi fellows, recently I posted a clip where I finished a conquest battle in 45 seconds! Many people were interested in the loadout and I got some DMs so here I'm sharing the build with the community. The main tool is Multishot with explosive arrows, but as that's equivalent to suicide bombing it requires some tactics to overcome the difficulty and that's precisely what this build does. Explosive arrows in close proximity will instantly kill you so first we have to activate Battlecry of Ares (extended duration). The fire DoT won't let you stay at full HP so we are going to go the other way and use low HP critical modifiers. As I used many store engravings I'll suggest alternatives as well.

  1. Increased Battlecry of Ares is almost necessary, if you don't have that it's very difficult to achieve the best result. In that case you have to carefully rely on 15% CD (actually 50%) reduction of Battlecry of Ares on kills.

  2. Typhon's axe perk (200% critical damage with fire) can be replaced by 30% armor penetration. Ranged damage won't change much but fire DoT will be severely weakened. Same thing for 30% elemental damage but -30% elemental resistance which can be replaced by damage conversion or any similar perk.

  3. If you don't have the Odysseus set you can replace 25% adrenaline gain with hunter abilities your preferred engraving. Some alternatives are 75% damage while on fire, 5% crit chance and 25% crit damage at low health or if you don't have any of them additional 10 seconds burning duration will be good.

  4. A full health version can be made with the help of Ares last breath ability. In addition, if you have the Typhon's axe the Agamemnon set can be used which will be as strong as its low health counterpart.

  5. For the low health set up you must not use damage dealt restored as health or health gained per adrenaline spent masteries as they will constantly refill your HP losing all low HP modifiers!

  6. If you have spare ability points fill out crit chance and damage at low health, cooldown for abilities and fire damage.

Below is the clip which I posted a couple of days back that illustrates the build.

I hope you guys will have fun with this crazy set up. Go all brute force!

Another time travel!

I recently posted the weirdest glitch where Layla was able to explore ancient Greece and went on a battlefield! In this clip I had put a nation leader in that snake pit before and they all survived to this point ๐Ÿ˜‚ There is a tiny chance I could be able to put Layla in ancient Greece again if what I'm thinking works out but I have to wait till I do another NG+
