Using "Bosver"

Hello, hoping to hear from a native speaker or someone with fluency with common Turkish turns of phrase and customs. I often heard my family members say "bosver" (which means "nevermind" or "don't worry about it"). Is this something that people say alot in general, or was it just my family? As someone who grew up outside of Turkiye, I think there may have been some cultural misunderstandings between us, because I often found some of the speech offensive or harsh. To me, being told "bosver" feels a bit dismissive or controlling.

10% pay increase - what am I getting wrong?

Hi, hoping to get some perspective before I respond to my boss about this calculation. I was offered a 10% raise. Last year, my Year To Date gross pay in December was $61,000. So I was expecting a new salary of around $67,100. Instead, I'm being offered $62,700. Is there some kind of finance/accounting practice that I'm not understanding here? I asked him to double check, and he said it was the correct amount. Please help me understand what's going on here before I push back again. Thank you.

EDIT: Ok, so it does add up...my $4k bonus means my annual salary was actually $57,000....so an additional 10% brings it to $62,700. Thanks everyone, sorry for the confusion. I somehow thought I was already making $+60k, because when I input my biweekly pay into an income calculator, it suggested I was. Perhaps they're not withholding as much tax as is normally the case?

A poll - Does Jasmine Sambac Absolute evoke "sunscreen" for you?

Hello! I'd like to conduct a little survey. Typically, I associate Ylang materials with sunscreen. But I've also, on occasion, experienced the association with Jasmine Sambac Absolute. I'm curious about your experience:

  1. Yes, Jasmine Sambac Abs strongly reminds me of sunscreen
  2. Yes, Jasmine Sambac Abs sometimes reminds me of sunscreen
  3. No, Jasmine Sambac Abs has never reminded me of sunscreen
  4. N/A bc I've never smelled Jasmine Sambac Abs.

Feel free to elaborate if desired. Thanks!

Sandalwood Aussie - comparisons?

Hi, would anyone be able to share their experience evaluating Australian sandalwoods? My experience is limited to the Liberty Naturals product, so I'd be curious to hear how it compares to any others. I was surprised at how light, floral, and almost citrussy the dry down is, and I'm curious if this is typical. The drydown also makes me think of Florol which was surprising. Thanks in advance.

Could I avoid a massive paycut in this scenario?

I'm feeling burnt out in my development and project management role. I've always been considered a hard worker, and had salary increases over the years at my organization. Now I'm tired and there's an admin role open that seems easier, and pays substantially less; so much less that I most probably wouldn't make ends meet. Is there any way to argue for moving my current salary with me into the new role (or at least, negotiating for something closer to my existing salary)? Or would that be unheard of? Thanks!

Lost Neroli Accord

Hello! I made an old-school Neroli accord and labeled it "Cerebauld" (the perfumer who created it) and now I can't find it ANYWHERE in my notes, on the forums, etc. And I can't even find the name, which I might have misspelled? Does anyone know where this accord might have been published? I'm usually quite organized so this is annoying 😃 Thanks!

Post Nasal Drip into aiways

  • title should read "airways"!

Just posting in case anyone can relate. I have gastritis but not yet diagnosed with GERD. I have recurring sore throats in the AM due to Post nasal drip. If the PND is present at night time, theres a pretty good chance Ill wake up feeling like it moved into my airways. I've always called it "watery lung", but just recently connected it to PND and LPR. Its not so bad that i feel like im drowning, but its annoying as if theres moisture in there that i cant cough out.

It can be worse during the summer/high humidity. Currently, I had inflammed tonsils and a terrible fever, which i think was actually a LPR/GERD flare up (but got a swab so will find out if it was actually a virus), and today have watery lung from PND again.

My concern is that sometimes it develops into wheezing, fatigue and feeling vaguely short of breath. Im worried it could bring bacteria into the lungs and develop into bronchitis or pneumonia which i do not want.

Ive just started connecting the dots and taking this seriously so im trying to tackle the root cause (gastritis and stomach acid reaching beyond the esophagus) with diet, slippery elm and sleeping upright. Also neti pot. Going to try flonase as well, some ppl here have mentioned it.

Just wanted to vent and see if anyone else experiences this. Im worried enough to try sleeping on my stomach to prevent the drip getting to my lungs!

Seeking a replacement for Peugeot Super Sport

Hi there, I've been riding an old Peugeot Super Sport (not sure the year, maybe early 80s?) for the past 10 years and I'm sad to say it's time to replace it. I'm a city dweller and mainly used it for commuting/transport around town. I've sadly let it rust and go into general disrepair, and I'm not sure it's worth investing more into it.

But I love the ride and accelleration on this thing. I feel like it's super responsive. I always compared it to being in a Miata lol. I have very little/no experience with modern bikes, because before this one, I rode an even heavier, slower, old cheap vintage bike.

I know bikes have come a very long way and there are better rides out there, much lighter frames, etc. I'd like to purchase a bike off the second hand market and would love some recommendations on something with a similar feel to the Peugeot Super Sport. There's a ton of options on Marketplace for bikes in the $150-$250 dollar range (CAD), so that's what I'm aiming to spend. I suppose I could look for the same make/model, but wondering what else I should keep an eye out for.

Thank you!
