should I take my budgie to a vet?

Hi!

For context, my budgie had taken a liking to me, to the point where he followed me around the house and would come greet me when I came home if he was out of his cage.

On thursday (only a day went by) I came back home and didn’t know he was out of his cage. I had heavy boxes so I didn’t know where I was putting my feet, and I accidentally stepped on him.

I removed my foot immediately because I heard him cry, but I still ripped most of his tail feathers out and he limped.

He doesn’t seem to limp anymore, he jumps around the cage without any problems and flies, eats and drinks normally. My mother noticed that he doesn’t chirp anymore (he was very vocal before) and that he seems to keep stretching a wing, but doesn’t appear to have problems flying.

I asked chatgpt for help, but then I thought that maybe asking an actual professional would be better, so I’m here hoping someone could give me advice.

What do I do?

UPDATE: yesterday I took him to an avian vet in my town, xray and exams show nothing! vet says he struggles to balance a little because of the absence of his tail, but other than that he’s just offended lol. Also we noticed he does chirp, he just doesn’t do it with us in the room.
Thank you to everyone who replied and helped!
