Getting back into the groove after a depressive episode and getting fired.

After a rough spring mentally and now with time on my hands after getting sacked from a job that had me out of the house 12+ hours a day for 8 hours of pay, I decided to get back into biking for both my mental and physical health. A few rides to get my butt readjusted to the street bike seat and my heart's cobwebs dusted off. I decided to push myself in terms of endurance and did a 32 mile ride! It was technically a bit longer because I biked to the train station that took me to the starting point but that was almost exclusively downhill so not really worth counting as exercise. Most of the route is very fine compacted gravel which made me a bit nervous at first for building up speed and taking turns, after a while though I felt comfortable enough to work up to about 12mph and hold it for 99% of the trime. Whole trip with a lunch stop in Woodinville took just shy of 4 hours!

Here's the route I took! Nothing explicitly challenging other than distance for me (I'm very out of shape). Hoping to do this at least once a week and work up to going around all of Lake Washington!

Jolty train between Judkins and DT Bellevue

Anyone notice the train is really jerky going through Mercer and on the east side of the lake? It was to the point people had to brace a few times

Is the port/post sorting facility still an issue?

I seem to be having issues with mail piling up at my giant custom port. I’d really rather not delete hours of work over mail.

Is there a fix or is this still an issue?

I’m also getting a weird bug where my port insists there’s a way to get past the gate and the highlighted route goes directly through the gate and loops right out.

Advice for someone turning 30 who wants to direct their life towards architecture/civil engineering/urban planning

I’m looking into going back to school to try and begin a career in the fields above. Likely will be going for engineering as it’s the broadest in terms of skill set and availability. I’ll also be pursuing an associates online first to save time and money, I live in Seattle, and just want to actually do what I’ve always wanted to, design and build shit and not be a customer service punching bag anymore.

Has anyone here started their education/career later in life? I’d love some general pointers and potential job recommendations (not referrals, but hey go off), to look for so I can be on the right track before starting school this fall.

Truly appreciate the help and love the community here.

I got this morning’s sunrise on Mt. Rainier.

Not the most spectacular sunrise but it was lovely to watch regardless.

My dog found, and destroyed, a super old sketchbook and this was in it.

I wanted to go for a fun little city runabout that sipped fuel. So it’s compact, very tapered towards the rear, and will never be built because it’s not a crossover.

Finger joint/dovetial router jig for…7’-8’ joints

So….

I’m 100% biting off more than one should chew, however im currently designing a custom wall bed/intrlocking sofa combo, a double sided bookshelf/tv media console, and ottoman that will double as the support for the wall bed when it’s down.

I’ll be using a metric ton of plywood and want to show off the layers of it along the joints and fascia between the cabinet/bed doors.

Does anyone have recommendations for a handheld router jig that’s suitable for doing what’ll likely be 7-8’ long sections of either box joints or dovetails (just to really show off and make this thing look especially nice).

I’m likely doing all this solo, and what I can reasonably afford in terms of power tools is a track saw, router/jig, and corded drill to get everything together.

I’m still designing everything but aside from the wall bed hardware and some drawer sliders this is literally just a long series of of boxes that I also want to CNC some U shaped brackets to fasten things together an add a nice look to it where the side cabinets and bed, couch module, and to link the bookcase/media console meet up.

Attached is a rough sketch/layout for the wall bed/couch/ottoman platform. Appreciate any advice!

We need a new loading screen mod

With these fat, but beautiful, textures, we could really use some way to share textures across buildings and surfaces. Lawd!
