People being obsessed about you not having a car

I don't drive. I like it that way. I don't rely on anyone else and i can get along fine on my own. The only problems I've had are always other people's reactions, which isn't really a problem. But every time someone finds out i don't have a car, they stop pretending to give a crap about getting to know me or wanting to talk about anything else. All they talk about is how i don't have a car, why i don't have a car. And it's nonstop. "Did you know ubers are expensive?" No shit. But not expensive as you think if you're smart about it and have other options. "Did you know having a car helps you get around?" No idea, really? Tell me that 10000 more times. I only have a few friends and they're the ones who don't gaf. Other people's feelings about me aren't my problem but it's just so predictable.

Putting books out front

Hey, so I stuffed all my books into two big plastic sealed totes. I wrote "free" on a piece of paper and stuck it onto one of the totes. Do you think people would take them if i leave them on my curb? I live in a high traffic area and people have quickly taken things like nightstands and empty totes. Has anyone ever seen or taken books like this? I just don't have a car or the time to sell them all individually. I'm also moving to a small place.
