Regrettably, they did not have any Kropatschek rifles on display, which was a bummer.
These photos were taken during my first time visiting the Army Museum Zizkov in Prague. Their collection includes numerous prototype self-loading rifles and assault rifles in the proprietary 7.5x45mm and 7.62x45mm calibers as well as in 7.92x57mm IS. It's interesting to see what the Czechs were cooking before being forced to standardize on Soviet calibers. Perhaps Ian should do another trip to cover some of these designs.
Taken during my visit there earlier today.
Some background: originally erected in 1650 to honor the victory over the Swedes in the 1648 Battle of Prague, it was demolished in 1918 by the Czechoslovak nationalist regime following the fall of the Dual Monarchy. Over a century later, it was finally rebuilt. Perhaps a sign of changing attitudes towards the Habsburg legacy?
As someone who watches lots of bodycam videos on Youtube.. I thought it was interesting that this officer whipped out a G36C /w RMR as his patrol rifle.
