Battery not fully charging
Hello Victron products enjoyers,
English is not my mother tongue so pardon my bad writing.
The electric installation is in my small camper van (Citroën Berlingo II, with a roof rack for the photovoltaic panel and the solar shower). The following image is a plan of my setup writen in french. The next one is its traduction by Claude (thx AI).
These are the specs of the equipment:
- DC/DC charger: Orion TR Smart
- Battery ("house") cell: Lithium SuperPack 12,8 V 60 Ah
- Battery Protect: Smart Battery Protect 12/24 65
- BMV: BMV-700
- Solar charge controler: Smartsolar MPPT 100 20
- Panel: Monocristalline panel BlueSolar 215W-24V Mono 1580 x 705 x 35mm
- 230V inverter: Pure Sinus Inverter 12V/230V 250 VA
Here is my problem: my battery hasn't been fully charging (13,3V at its best ; it used to go up to 13,9V or above) with the solar panel (no issue with the DC/DC charger) during the last month. I'm currently experiencing a heatwave where I live (France), so my best guess is a temperature delta too big between the solar charge controler (which has a temperature probe) and the battery (which has no monitoring for its temperature).
I plan to try to fix the problem by putting a temperature prob on the battery. I have 2 options:
- Add a Smart Battery Sense on the battery + a Smart dongle Bluetooth on the BMV 700 in order to create a VE. Smart Network.
- Replace the current shunt by a SmartShunt 500A + a Temperature sensor for BMV-712 Smart and BMV-702 in order to create a VE. Smart Network.
So which option is the better? Does one of them offer a better monitoring of the battery?
