Vanilla Raspberry Cake . First time trying Heart shape & palette knife petals . Was so challenging.

This was a very challenging cake for me as I have never tried a heart shaped cake before, or palette knife flowers . I haven’t even mastered getting smooth buttercream on a round cake yet , don’t know why I thought it’d be a good idea to try a heart cake 😂. Stencilling as well as palette knife flowers , I gave it my best shot . I tried a little stucco , but I don’t think I did enough or did it properly to make it look intentional. Looks like I just messed those bits up. I was trying to go for a rough ( deckled ) top edge , but it just looks messy.

This is a vanilla raspberry cake , raspberry filling and Swiss meringue buttercream.

Any feed back is appreciated on all aspects . Do you think it needs anything extra , such as some gold leaf or more decorative pieces? As it’s just a practice cake it’s not for any particular occasion.

Thank you in advance.

Lemon raspberry cake , with lemon curd and Swiss meringue buttercream.

This is the cake I made with the left over cake/icing/piped flowers from a larger cake the same I made for my aunts birthday. Think I prefer this one to the larger one . Larger one is the last photo .

Struggled ALOT with this one.

Hi everyone, I haven’t made any cakes for quite a while , so the break really set back my progress and felt like starting from the beginning again. I struggled with everything on this cake , couldn’t get the coat smooth , Ombre didn’t work out properly, flowers wouldn’t pipe nicely. I got fed up and just used what I’d done. It’s a 6inch , 2 layer raspberry lemon cake , with lemon curd and raspberry filling, Swiss meringue buttercream. Made for my Aunts birthday tomorrow, hope it tastes better than it looks . 🙃

Help! What can I do to improve this ?

Sofa needs a good clean , peeled off cat protection and it’s left awful marks . I’m going to get a new table lamp , please help with other suggestions. I’m also waiting on a new blind to be installed at the glass sliding door. The reason the rug is smaller is because the area is also a walk through.

What window furnishings?

Any ideas on window furnishings for this window ? Ignore the roller shutter on outside . My style is modern/coastal leaning into modern scandi . I was thinking about a sheer curtain ? Thanks !

Treadmill on Hybrid floors .

Hi All ,

Has anyone put a treadmill onto hybrid flooring? I’m getting new hybrid flooring and I’ll have to put my treadmill on it or get rid of it , and I really don’t want to get rid of it as I use it frequently ( just for walking , no running on it ). Are treadmills too heavy for hybrid ?

I’ve read you can’t use the usual mats as they may discolour the flooring due to a chemical reaction . I currently have an Orbit StarTrack treadmill and their treadmill mat , but have been advised it’s not suitable for my new hybrid flooring .

Has anyone put their treadmill onto hybrid floors ? If so , what type of mat did you put under it ? Has it damaged the flooring in anyway ?

Thanks .

( I apologise if wrong sub , we are currently renovating and getting new flooring ).

Stainless Steel Shower Curtain Rod

Hi All ,

Does anyone know where I can purchase a high quality stainless steel shower curtain rod and fixtures. Opening is about 80cm. I don’t want that cheap chrome stuff.

Thanks in advance.

Edited to say : I’m in Perth , Western Australia.
