Pagoda Sweet Heat Chicken

Trying the last of the trio of new Pagoda frozen meals, this is Sweet Heat Chicken. It is a combination of the other two bowls, the Pagoda Drunken Noodles (noodles and ‘naked’ chicken) and Pagoda General Tso’s Chicken (rice and battered chicken). This bowl is noodles with battered chicken, and once again like the General Tso’s bowl it is SPICY! The packaging reads two spicy peppers but I would suggest they raise it to 3 spicy peppers.

The sauce is sweet with some hints of umami, with a good amount of spice, but much less so than the General Tso bowl. The chicken is not great but not bad either, battered chicken just doesn’t do well in any microwave.

Veggies are still good and high quality, I enjoy eating the broccoli and carrots. Noodles are pretty good as well, they are not mushy and have a good bite.

Now having tried all of the bowls, I prefer the drunken noodles the most by far, the other two bowls including this one are just too spicy.

Pagoda General Tso’s Chicken

Okay, right off the bat this one is SPICY! It shows one chili pepper but I had to take a short break between bites because the sauce was so hot. I think a more accurate rating is three chili peppers.

Coming off of trying the Pagoda Drunken Noodles bowl, this one is a disappointment. The battered chicken on this one was soggy, but at least they included a generous amount. The veggies once again tasted great, the broccoli was tasty and had a nice firm bite. The rice was somewhat hard, like it was undercooked but otherwise fine. Good overall portion, however I would probably not buy this bowl again especially at full price.

Interested in taking over parents’ 2011 328i, estimated cost of bringing it up to current maintenance?

Hey e90 community, have a question. Parents are looking to get rid of their 2011 328i. Has around 140,000 miles I would estimate. They are pretty bad with maintenance, they just do oil changes regularly but they have never addressed an oil leak and never done trans flush, etc. just reactive fixes when shit breaks. It seems to drive okay but they recently said it’s having symptoms I think are consistent with VANOS solenoid replacement and they want to get rid of it.

I’m thinking it might be a cool car to keep in the fleet, it’s honestly gorgeous cosmetically inside and out and I think it just needs some TLC and it would be a shame to let it go. Carmax wants to give them $2500 which I think I can buy my parents out for a little more because I think it’s worth more and to help them out a bit.

How much should I budget for a complete maintenance overhaul, I’m talking VANOS solenoid replacement, trans flush, differential flush, engine gasket replacements (anything else?). I would go to an Indy for sure. What do you guys think? 3k? 5k?
