Is this worth fixing or am I cooked?

09 328xi. 188K miles. N51.

Blew a tire and hit a median. Only car I’ve ever owned, originally purchased from Michigan in 2020 (so there’s a bit of rust). Needed to do VCG, OFHG, and a new radiator prior to accident.

Like I said, only car I’ve ever owned myself and was my introduction to learning about cars. I’m a huge fan of the e90 platform.

Is this worth fixing? I’m on Reddit cause my Indie is out of the country for another week and I’m a bit impatient. I don’t expect it to be cheap. I’m stuck between:

- Fix (if worth it $ wise)
- Buy another. Possibly a 330i or another LCI. (I live down south now so less prone to rust)
- Take my L, Save up for B58

Open to all suggestions.

Build Suggestions

It’s a 2006 330i just want to do some small mods to make it look and sound nice, I’ve heard that the n52 is not the best engine for performance so that’s not really what I’m looking for. Just wanted some suggestions.

E90 hump

Hey guys soo, i have e91 06' and it has no hump and i was wondering if it's possible to put cic and not ccc ( yes i know i'll need a new dash and a lot of other things). Secondly i was thinking if its possible to put android screen ( in the hump dash) with newer controls from cic ( because all i need is the radio and carplay) and i'm a bit tired of the dash just missing the screen and i hate that screen where you need to cut the dash like in F series

The death of every e90 deserve

My baby, an 320lci, was more than a car for me. So many memories, trips, fun times. Sure not 6 cylinder, but that was as much as I could afford.

And I had to sold her,in a pristine condition. To a young idiot that completely crash it from every possible angle, less than two months after he got it.

When he send me tje photos, something broke inside me. Okay it's a car,but I wanted her to live a bit longer. And dont die like this, but rather like every e90 should. In a mechanic after you say fuck you BMW,I am kot paying for those injectors again....

Fist BMW

So I bit the bullet and bought myself a 2006 BMW 330XI it has a 6 speed manual it’s the one year bmw n52 that came from factory with the magnesium valve cover and 3 stage intake from the factory it’s also tuned to 91 octane well it’s been sitting for awhile prior to me owning it outside a oil change radiator flush the common things to do with any brand of vehicle that’s been sitting what else should I do to get the most from this car 239k miles I work as a mechanic so I can do a lot of the repairs myself I just been hearing the stories of how notorious this engine is at oil leaks but is apparently outside that a very reliable engine the n52B30 I’m honestly debating a complete rebuild but it’s mainly bc I like the way the car pulls threw the gears

Anyone replaced the CD/DVD section with gauges?

Looking to keep the OEM look with analog gauges that match the cluster inside a housing that fits seamlessly in that spot.

Just replaced rusty rear axle carrier, lets see what the rust claims next.

Only snapped 3 bolts but all brake pipe-hose connectors disintegrated so had to redo brakes as well.

Best exhaust options for e93 325i?

I’m looking for someone not TOO loud, not raspy and minimal drone.
Any help would be appreciated (not costing arm and leg🙏)

What could I reasonably expect to sell my car for to a fellow enthusiast?

Trade in and private sale prices are pretty low online. I’m guessing because you never know if the car needs $5000 in maintenance right away. Curious what I could sell mine for to somebody who knows the e90 and would appreciate that mine has most all major maintenance items done (ofhg, valve cover, water pump, thermostat, all fluids, shocks, blower motor, starter, radiator, etc etc.). It’s a 2009 328i with about 120k on it.

Will I regret selling my 128I for a N54 335I

This car has been great, small wheel base, incredibly reliable. I am just craving more power, I know n54 is known to be unreliable but I think im ready for the hurt

B58 into E90/E92 — realistic parts list & costs from someone who's done the swap

Seeing way more interest in B58 swaps into E9x chassis lately so figured I'd drop the real breakdown.

Minimum parts list:
• B58B30 longblock (F30 340i donor, 2016-2018 for N20/N63 era ECU compatibility)
• ZF 8HP50 transmission from same donor
• Complete engine wiring harness (do NOT try to piece this together)
• F30 front subframe OR custom motor mounts ($800-1500 fabricated)
• Standalone ECU (SCS Delta GDI6 ~$3K) OR modified OEM DME ($500-800 + coding)
• Custom cooling system (expansion tank relocated, hoses adapted)
• HPFP fuel system adaptation
• Custom exhaust manifolding
• AC compressor bracket/relocation

Realistic total cost ranges:
- Doing most work yourself: $12,000-$18,000
- Some shop labor for fab/wiring: $18,000-$25,000
- Full shop build: $30,000-$45,000

The biggest money pit is the "small stuff" — custom brackets, specialty fasteners, sensors, programming hours at $150/hr add up FAST.

I put the entire 19-phase build documentation at b58swapbible . com — everything from which donor year to pick (2016-2018 has simplest CAN) to the first-start checklist.

Ask away if you're in the research phase. Happy to help avoid the mistakes I made.

Trying to colour match this Titan Silver

I have a 2011 e90 323i that I got used and am trying to build into my dream car! I've finished all the functional repairs and have moved to fixing the aesthetics of the car before I start modding.

My Titan silver (354/7) has been the most difficult colour to match, with the regular/cheaper automotive sprays not matching at all (as expected).

I'm looking to use paint to cover some scratches from the previous owner and purchase some mods and make them silver since I don't want anymore black accents.

Has anyone been successful in getting a perfect/good colour match?

Feedback on OEM upgrades

Hello everyone, I’m debating if I should upgrade my suspension to Msport suspension like shocks and anti roll bars. I have my 320i for almost 2 years and it’s my first car, but I don’t want to turn it into something it’s not so I’m quite careful with visual upgrades. My dream spec car is an 330i manual preferably with the n52b30 engine but they are really hard to come by especially in titan silver, my 320i has everything I want for a car except the drive train, stance and wheels(193 style). My 320i is mechanically healthy with 15 bar compression on all four cylinders and I keep up with maintenance, so my question is would it be worth upgrading or should I keep her as it is and wait for the right 330i to appear
