Questions regarding Danganronpa inspired murder mystery game
So I was initially planning out a Fanganronpa but i found out that I can't sell merchandise I decided to bring some changes to the game because my OCs are precious to me and if I ever get to release the game I would love to create merchandise for them.
The concept is similar. Killing game, investigation, trial, voting, execution
The characters have talents that I can title differently instead of 'Ultimates'.
Some aspects are different like the game will be a pixel rpg style with hybrid elements like animated cutscenes. The worldbuilding is completely different. Like the 'mascot' having been an acquaintance of the protagonist and the killing game occurring due to certain inevitable reasons. The protagonist being the central part of the scenarios instead of just being unlucky. The setting being much darker with deeper psychological aspects. The music and artstyle will all be original and there will be no non stop debates nor will there be pink blood.
There is also no school setting and nearly every character is 20+
Killing games don't belong to spike chunsoft,with games like Your turn to Die existing. So I was wondering if I keep above mentioned aspects, will I have a chance of getting copyrighted?Will it be legal?
