[Discussion] Would you read a psychological thriller with this hook? (No Spoilers)
Hey everyone,
I’m currently in the world-building and planning phase of a new psychological thriller/neo-noir novel, and I don't have many big reader friends in my everyday life to bounce ideas off of.
I want to see if the main hook actually grabs people before I get too deep into the drafting process. I'm trying to keep the major plot twists and character secrets completely hidden for the actual book, so this is just the "back-of-the-book" style teaser blurb.
I'd love to know your honest first impressions. Would this setup interest you enough to make you pick it up off a shelf?
GENRE: Psychological Thriller / Neo-Noir
THE TEASER:
Mara Redfield survives by relying on cold logic and never trusting her own mind in the dark. But her reality fractures when disconnected strangers begin walking out of the fog and into the local police station to turn themselves in.
They are calm. They are lucid. And they are giving vivid, detailed confessions to brutal, horrific crimes.
There’s only one problem: every single one of their "victims" is still walking around town, alive and completely unharmed.
Thanks so much for any feedback!
