Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon, usually in online discourse, of offering a derisory transfer offer using the formula:

Paltry amount of money + retro confection or snack

E.g., On the hypothetical question of re-signing (Keys voice) YOANE WISSA, a Brentford supporter comments:

"Nope. Or maybe a £5 and a packet of pork scratchings."

Which reminded me that I've read the exact same thing numerous times. The likes of your Curly Wurlys, your Monster Munches.

It's probably more of an irritation, but the provenance of this is the part that fascinates me. Where did this come from?
