Just a random thought while reading through TFOB, but >!the Soft Lothark explaining to Dafyd how the Carryx are essentially extremely highly evolved brine shrimp!< made me wonder if Daniel and Ty were inspired by the theory of carcinisation. Obviously the Carryx haven’t gone full crab-mode and their hierarchy is much more like ants or termites, but them being hyperevolved crustaceans just piqued my interest in a fun way.

Similarly, their belief in their inevitability and axiom “What is, is” points to the idea and meme that everything eventually become crab.
