Do you run your variable speed pump 24hrs a day?

I live in the South where we are already at 90*. My old pool did not have a variable speed pump, but now I have a 2.7hp 3 speed variable pump with the new pool install.

7700 gallons with spa spill over. Pentair infloor cleaning system. Chatgpt suggested a 24hr schedule that utilizes all three speeds and my research supports that, but what say the group?

Had my first golf lesson. You should too.

Played golf on and off for 25 years starting in my 20's. I've never had a golf lesson. Thought I didn't need it, wasn't worth the money, or instructors don't work with guys like me.

Like you I've bought golf training aids, watched hours of Youtube videos, and have even video'd my own swing. All those things helped, but marginally. I know how to swing the club and have a decent swing, but it isn't great. Never could understand why I wasn't doing as well as my buddies while over the past 2-3 years I've been playing more and more.

I would shoot 85ish at various city courses (GHIN handicap currently 12.1) and 95ish or higher at harder less forgiving courses. Was never consistent with any club, weak shots, flight paths all over the place. Frustration. Like everyone, I had those 5-10 shots per round that keep you coming back and make you think that you're almost there.

I was fed up spending money and time on range balls and rounds where I wasn't having as much fun as I could be, so I finally booked a lesson. The instructor isn't important here. I'm not good enough to be "dialing in" the flight path on my 4 iron, hell I don't even carry a 4 iron. I wanted advice. I wanted help.

I went into it with a blank slate. I didn't fight the instructor with "this is how I do it" mentality. I told him I understand the basic mechanics of what to do, but I want you to tell me exactly what you want me to do. The instructor did and I listened.

It was uncomfortable. Downright against some of the stuff I've been doing for decades. I've never gripped the club in that manner it seemed wrong. I've never leaned the club at address like that. I've never tried to hit 6" in front of the ball. I've never exaggerated my weight shift at impact like I did today. Like you and lots of us, I went to the range and banged balls hoping my swing would magically fix itself.

Frankly, that hour of instruction was the best hour of golf shots I've hit IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I wasn't the same golfer I've known for 25 years. I knew my clubs could do that, but not with me swinging them. My viewpoint on the game is now changed. I walked out of there like a kid on Christmas morning that just got his favorite toy.

Now, I understand this is not a one time quick fix. This will take time and I'll probably fall back into some of my old habits, BUT at least I now have a bit more knowledge of WHY my golf shots looked like they did and what I need to do to fix it. Will I have to pay for more lessons in the future, no. Will I, yes.

We spend $50-75+ per round of golf in my area. Is it fun, yes. Could it be more fun, yes. My lesson was the equivalent of 2+ rounds of golf but I now will go into my next round with the anticipation that I have some solid foundations to have a significantly better round.
