Play the ladies tees!

My wife played college golf and is pretty decent. She bet me I couldn’t break 75 from the ladies tees and beat her using only 5 clubs. We belong to a club, so we both know the course very well. I choose a 5, 7 PW-60 degree and putter. The course plays 4900 hundred yards from the ladies tees. I shot a 71 and she shot a 79. I think it’s the most fun I’ve had playing golf in years. I called my playing partners and challenged them to do the red tee 5- club challenge this week. My point… there a lot of ways to make golf more enjoyable than you can possibly imagine.

Chronic OTT Swing - Will this setup cause new issues?

I’ve seen plenty people get good advice here, so decided to post. I have been swinging OTT as long as I can remember and still do. Decided to try this setup on the range and hit some of the most straight / baby draw shots I’ve ever hit. Will this sort of practice cause new issues (is it just a bandaid) or does the swing look good to you? Any suggestions/improvements/comments are welcome! Here to learn. 7-9HCP if that matters.

Closed face at top of backswing

Reasonably strong grip, face is always super closed at the top and also a pretty strong bowing of the wrists. Finding it next to impossible to get the wrists to cup/ straighten out so having to hold the face off forever to avoid a hook.

Tips welcome.

24 handicap, last 3 rounds have been in the 90s but very capable of spiralling back into 105-110s.

Advice for better forward weight shift?

I feel like I can swing with decent speed and make good contact, but my swing isn’t very efficient at generating ball speed, 105-110 mph average club speed but only 220-230 carry. Any advice?

Looking to clean up my swing more.

Trying to have a better, deeper turn in my backswing while allowing my pressure to spill over onto my lead foot. And keeping the hips back. Any other tips out there?

Why can’t I break 100?

Before everyone comments “short game” I dropped about 9/10 strokes today from the tee. So it’s not all short game. I’d say the best part of my game is the short approaches from 100-50 yards. I feel great there.

But I just can’t seem to put anything together. My driver is so high, right and spinny. I don’t even understand why it fades it looks like it should draw. And my irons are so all over the place distance wise. Sometimes I’m hitting my 9 iron into 150 yard pins, and sometimes I’m coming up short in water from 120 with a P wedge. From what I can feel the contact feels good even when I hit the really short ones.

Mainly I just can’t reach anything in two. My driver barely gets to 180 yards, and then I’m often 200+ from the green. It’s so frustrating. Everyone I play with hits the ball so much further with the driver. Yet my wedges and irons go further or the same as everyone else. Any idea what’s causing the tee box issues?

Can you overdraw snap hook with an OTP swing?

Stupid question but started with a slice when I first picked up the game and progressed to a snap hook (woods and driver) and a slight overdraw with my irons

Took advice from yesterday

Took some advice yesterday on stalling my transition and I practiced the step drill today. How am I doing? Any other ideas or advice or am I on the right track practicing this? I practiced it with all clubs, here’s some strikes from my hybrid and then driver. I actually feel like my best ball flights came from when I was actually doing the drill, and it seemed to work really well when I stay disciplined.

Alguien conoce a alguien en la planta de Callaway?

Me volví adicto al golf, apenas hoy me enteré que hay una planta callaway en Apodaca, supongo que ha de dar precio especial a empleados o quizás guiño guiño conseguir palos más baratos.

Odd issue that someone can help with

Ok so I have a chrome putter shaft which prob 80% of people have. Im surprised nobody complains about the glare from the sun when using it to make sure your putt is on a good line. To clarify, if you line up your put or no you hold you putter shaft up from the line to the hole (or your line) but the sun reflection from the chrome blinds the shit out of me often. Anyone have a hack to prevent this? I know I can get a black shaft but I have a double bend shaft and its a lighter shaft so very very hard to find. Is there like a spray to dull the chrome maybe? I dont know.

How this move?

I’m trying to go low this summer, shot my lowest round at a 78 a few months ago and been dancing around 79s and 80s since. I think I’m ready to go lower with this swing, what do you think? Although I do know that golf is more than a swing, I definitely need to level up the short game and much more lol.

Why does it feel like my iron swing options are basically an over the top slice or hitting half a foot fat?

Apologies for no video, hopefully a description is good enough.

More or less I can find consistency with an OTT swing, but I want to bring my game to the next level. I can shoot in the 80s at 6500 yards at a pretty difficult course near me.

I've been working on hitting a draw with my driver and it's been going fine. There is a fair amount of inconsistency due to the feels being new but I hit the ball decently and it goes far. When everything lines up I can hit over 300 yards with rollout so I have a decent understanding of swing mechanics. It's just not consistent yet.

As far as the irons go, I cast them and come OTT to find consistency. I've been working on dropping my arm into the slot with irons but it just isn't coming as easily as with the driver. I hit the ground FAR behind the ball constantly and it feels like the head of the club is just diving out of my hands into the ground early. I can't even hold it back if I wanted.

Has anyone gone through a similar transition or coached anyone who did? What worked or ended up being the problem?

These are new feels for me only through the last week so I haven't practiced them a bunch yet, but I wanted to get going in the right direction.

Let's have it

Usually score around 100 with a couple of blow up holes.

This was a clean 7i, 150+ carry. I hate the shape on the follow through? I seem too fast at the top of the back swing.

Thoughts on the swing

Just wanted to post and ask if there is any glaring faults or quirks with my swing. I usually fade a bit or hit straight but can end up with a push or pull. I feel that I might not be closing the club head consistently. I don’t believe I am over the top for the most part I feel. Thoughts everyone?
